Hypothetical question time!

You can only own one car/truck for the rest of your life. The rules:

1. It can be any car, new or old, cheap or expensive
2. You will always be able to get parts for it
3. You will always have the ability to take it to a mechanic (dealer or independent)
4. The vehicle will last forever as long as it receives routine maintenance

So...what would you have and why? Remember, you have to drive it forever, regardless of what newer and better cars come out.

I'd want a vehicle that could meet any demands I throw at it. Hauling lots of people, going to the lumber yard, towing a boat, etc.

I'm going with a 3/4 ton big block Chevy Suburban. I like the square body style of the 1980's through 1998 models with the 454. I'd prefer to have a Vortec or carb'ed 454...no TBI please.

I'd love to find the new body style, like a 2003, with the 8.1L gas hog....but if I had to have a newer body style (post 1999), I'd want the 8.1L only.

The CUV that I have now, RX300.

Love the design, it's practical in day to day life. And, I could drive it forever! Lexus quality at it's finest!

1982 DeLorean DMC-12 because if I live to be 100 then I can have it made into a time machine and go back 80 years and pick up 20 year old chicks.

Assuming I can afford all the maintenance down the road, right know my choice would be an AMG E63 Wagon.

I haven't driven one but I'm sure it's going to put a grin on my face everytime I get in it.

The reasons are because its already plenty fast from the factory and relatively practical for a high performance car since it's a wagon.

Actually, a Subaru WRX or a Forester XS; they're fast, reliable, they are capable off road as well as on road. For someone who wants a sports car but needs an SUV, I can't think or anything else that can do what turbo Subarus do.

I guess I would stick with my 91 Chevy 1500. I bought it new and am still driving it. It does everything a new truck can, just not as electronic filled.

I'd be really tempted by this, a 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus:

Comfortable, styling is aging quite well, incredibly fast, 4WD, fairly reliable for a supercar.

If I really needed to haul stuff, I could always rent a van or truck for the day.

Porsche Cayenne S

Has the sport, has the utility, has the AWD has the exclusivity.

Second choice Grand Cherokee SRT8.

A 1991 Acura Integra that does not rust. If it were not for the rust on mine, I would have no intention of getting rid of it.

I absolutely HATE everything in the market these days, for these reasons:
1) California redwood tree trunks for roof pillars,
2) bitty little windows
3) no rear visibility (I need a camera to see out the back? What if it breaks?)
4) universal ABS (a terrible thing in ice and snow)
5) vehicle "stability" assist
6) air bags everywhere
7) intrusive EVAP
8) no more manual locks or windows
9) electronic absolutely everything
Yuck.

It would have to have a manual transmission and be turbocharged. AWD would be nice too. So basically I want them to make me a Mazdaspeed 6 wagon.

Too bad that doesn't exist. There are about 11 of us here in the US that would love that.
