- Widespread software piracy in general. I worked at a University where there was no software budget. You were just expected to "borrow" copies where you could.

I had a nagging feeling there was a ubiquitous application from the DOS days that hadn't been mentioned yet, but I couldn't remember what it was. Pathminder is the one.
On occasion, I still use the last DOS versions of WordPerfect on a machine I set up with FreeDOS. That way, I get to use the native fonts on my old (but still completely functional) Panasonic KX-P1124!
