I have the following
2010 BMW 335i (Inline 6 Twin Turbo) Mfg. Recommends BMW 5-30, been using German Castrol 0-30

2006 F150 (4.6L V8) Mfg. Recommends 5-20, Been using RP 5-20

2006 SAAB 9-3 (2.8 V6 Twin Scroll Turbo) Mfg Recommends Mobil 1 0-40 Been using that

Im looking at the Motul oils, 8100 and 300v, leaning towards the 8100 series,

Im thinking for the 335i, of using 8100 xmax 5-30 because of its BMW Long Life-01 approval, and because I want a 10k OCI. (BMW recommends 15k with there rebranded Castrol 5-30 insane....)

For the F150 Im unsure about what 8100 oil to use? the 0-20 ECO-LITE? (API SM / CF Honda Europe gasoline engines Mazda gasoline engines, Subaru SOHC (single overhead camshaft) engines API SM is backwardly compatible with API SL. )

And for the SAAB 9-3, I have no idea what 8100 oil to use.

Thanks, and I appreciate all your feedback in advance :)

are you looking for the same oil all around? cuz if so, i'd recommend the M1 0w-40 or GC 0w30 all around. if not, the one only one I would personally change up is the F150 to a xw-30 or xw-40 of some sort because that's a big honkin engine and a 5w-20 is maybe ok on a 1.8L Honda I4, but its a little thin even in my honda 3.5L V6. Imagine a 4.6L V8.

Thanks guys, not really looking for a all around oil, the 335i gets driven REALLY hard, but its also a daily driver, the F150 is a workhorse, it nearly never is driven without a load, and the SAAB 9-3 has a reaaaaally hot turbo.

Price is not a factor thats why Im looking at the top tier oil brands.

All 3 cars are due for a oil change, and I already have 3 KN filters, sitting in my garage, just trying to decide

Unless he's doing heavy towing, that V-8 is probably the least stressed engine of the bunch, and the one for which an xw-20 would be the most appropriate.

Let's keep in mind that we are now ten years past the time when Ford and Honda moved to recommending 20 wt oils for most of their engines. The "20 is too thin" myths are still bouncing around the internet. If the 20 wt oils were actually too thin, we'd be seeing large numbers of damaged or destroyed engines by now. We're simply not.

Thanks the F150 is doing 0 towing but heavy hauling, like 800 pounds in the bed isn't out of the ordinary.

I have Blisten HD 5100 shock/struts, and Hellwig airbags that should tell the story :)

So on the f150 would the motul 8100 0-20 be ok for the f150?

Good choice.

If you're interested, there is also an 8100 X-Max 5w-40 that also has the LL-01 approval. But of the two, I'd probably take the 5w30.

If all your F150 needs is an API SM oil (double-check this before you pull the trigger), Eco-Lite should be fine. If you go this route, let us know if you see a fuel economy difference. It's always interesting to see if the MPG-oriented oils actually make a difference over their peers of similar viscosity.

Saab specifies a GM-LL-A025 oil in 0w30 or 0w-40. Motul doesn't have a 0w-40 any more, and their 0w30 doesn't carry GM-LL-A025. They do have a "Specific LL A/B" 5w30, though, which is made for Saabs and other cars requiring that spec. Since 0w vs. 5w is unlikely to make a difference among high quality synthetics for use in California, I think this will be a good oil for you.

If you can't get your hands on that, though, I wouldn't be too concerned. From what I can tell from the (Canadian) '06 9-3 user's manual I downloaded, GM-LL-A025 is specified mainly so that the OLM is accurate. If you're willing to set your own oil changes and be slightly conservative, I think it'd be safe to forgo that spec and go for X-Lite 0w30 or X-Max 5w30.

Great pulled the trigger on the 8100 Max 5-30 for the 335i,

going to do a little more research on the f150,

Not really concerned about specifications on the SAAB, because its just out of warranty 51k miles. And I could care less about the oil sensor [censored].

Based on this "The only oils that are readily available that meet this specification are Mobile 0W40 SuperSyn and Saab 0W30 Turbo Long-Life Fully Synthetic oil. "

Im guessing the Motul 8100 X-LITE 0w30 would be ideal.
Looking for a 10K OCI aswell.
Thanks again guys for the input!

BTW NICE e36 man!!

If you're going for a 10k OCI, I'd recommend X-Max 5w30 over X-Lite 0w-30. X-Max has more recent long-drain certifications (BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5 for X-Max, versus BMW LL-98 and MB 229.3 for X-Lite). Plus, you might find it convenient to use the same oil in more than one of your cars.
