Hello all..i have a 2010 gmc canyon 3.7l crew cab with 18000 mi rarely.tow/haul anything and am trying to decide whether to use pyb or penn plat....im leaning.toward trying qs full syn which is about halfway on price between the other 2. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks

From what I know about your climate I would use whatever name brand dino oil meets the GM spec for this truck and run the OLM to 0% for your OCIs. My opinion is that you will never have an oil related failure/problem following this approach.

There are plenty of UOAs to back that up, including a few of my own in an (at times) extreme cold climate environment.

-26C here today, which is no fun.

As Jim5 said i would go with the pyb and a quality filter, change out by the olm. I've been using good conventional and good filter here in our moderate climate since forever ago with no problems. If you are set on using synth oil PP is an excellent choice and will serve you well.

If you plan to follow the OLM, which you should for warranty reasons, then a good quality Dino oil is all that is needed. PYB is a very good oil and I wouldn't hesitate to use it. If possible, try to find the API SN version, as it is the newest spec.

Oh and Jim5, I agree, it's darn cold here!!
