I'm trying to go with the best oil for my application, as i have alot of money into the engine. I was thinking about going with the German Castrol which is 0w30 i believe.

My motor has the following mods, not sure if the has anything to do with the oil i choose.

big-valve head, DSR 256 cams, JE Pistons, Pauter rods, pretty huge oil cooler, and so on.

TIA

Mobil 1 is the best oil I`ve ever used in my Z. Especially the 15W50. VG30DE engines crave the thicker oils. They produce alot of engine bay heat (especially the turbo). Nissan FSM even recommends 15W40-20W50 oils in those engines if you live in warmer climates. My owners manual actually warns against using anything thinner than a 10W30.

So yeah,Auto-Union and coffee are right on! Mobil 1 has always performed the best for me out of all the oils I`ve tried in the past (Syntec,Syntec Blend,Royal Purple, and Valvoline). Best conventional I`ve ever used was Valvoline.

Murrys may also carry the Amsoil 5w-40 or 10w-40, either of which would be excellent here.

The Mobil 1, 5w-40 is the same as their Delvac 1, synthetic HDEO. It's a significantly better product than their garden variety Mobil 1 stuff for this type of application....

Mobil 1 0w-40 would work very well in that application.
However, 1 thing that was not discussed...you say you have a large oil cooler. Has it got the thermostat? If so what temperature. Also what oil temperatures do you run?
