Oil Filter Interchangeability

Is there an Automotive Oil Filter that will fit in place of a Tecumseh P/N 36563 ? (it's for a 16.5 Hp single cylinder lawn tractor).

Filter specifics :

3 inch diameter
2.275 inches long
11/16" thread
I.D. of rubber gasket 2.35 inches
O.D. of rubber gasket 2.78 inches

MOre data on that Tecumseh Filter:

7-9 psi pressure relief
anti drain back valve
28 micorn filter
3/4" - 16 fitting

I used a 3306 stupertech from wal mart. works like a champ in my 17hp Tech.

At $1.97 it's hard to pass up the ST 3306. I'll pick one up tomorrow. I'm breaking in a new engine and am going to change the fluid in 5 hours anyway so I didn't want to spend $11 for something I was going to recycle in 5 hours.

DEWFPO, last time I had a problem such as yours (mine was our Honda tractor), I went to a large NAPA store with all the info I had and let them run around and find an equivalent.

Their filters are very good (Gard/WIX), even their cheaper line, and I wouldn't hesitate to use one on a small engine.

Yep, and it looks like a BARBIE filter too! only about an inch longer than the tecumseh.
