Oil change questions of a new Nissan Sentra

Like most have said, stick to 5K intervals while under warranty just in case something happens. In my 2015, I've been alternating between OEM and aftermarket filters and have used various brands of synthetic 0W-20. The car is doing well with that routine, so I don't see a reason to waver from it.

Hi everyone, I am coming for reporting the situation! I chose Pennzoil Platinum oil and oil fiter. The oil color is originially light yellow but after 100 miles, the oil changes to yellown brown. Is it normal? Is it an indicator of cleaning the dirty stuff in the engine?
Also , after two round trips, I notice that the engine is starting to become quieter and lower rpms when climbing hills (same route, same weather.) Any explanation on this? Is the oil used by the dealer really that bad and may hurt my engine?
Thanks for everyone's help and without you guys I couldnt change the oil myself! Thank you!

It is totally normal for the oil to change color. It is the additives at work. I have PP in the Camry right now which did the same thing after I checked the level after a few weeks. Prior oil changes were with TGMO and an oil analysis was done at 60k miles. Which came out perfect. Have a nice day tina!

Thank you so much for your experience! do you have an idea on my second question? (after changing the oil, engine is quieter, a bit lower rpms ) You have a good day too!

No oil is going to change your RPMs. It's either all in your head, or you have a transmission/clutch issue that is unrelated to engine oil.

Hi Tina - congrats on the new ride and welcome to BITOG!

We recommend Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 Full Synthetic motor oil for your 2016 Nissan Sentra. According to your owner's manual, when using a full synthetic motor oil, you can drive for 5,000 miles or 6 months (which ever milestone you hit first) in between each oil change. In case you were unfamiliar, Pennzoil Synthetics stand apart from other typical synthetic motor oils because they start with something different, natural gas. The base oil designed from natural gas leads to a more pure base oil with fewer of the impurities found in crude oil (the base oil for many other traditional synthetic motor oils). You won't need to do a quick oil change when making the switch to Pennzoil Platinum since we always recommend following your vehicle's recommendation for OCI. You can find more information on Pennzoil Platinum here or purchase Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 from Amazon.

Hope this info helps for your next oil change and feel free to private message us with any additional questions! - The Pennzoil Team
