Oil Change interval & Fresh Oil Break-in period

Looking at the Fe trends...they went well beyond the "target"...then dropped off.

Looking at the 15,000 miles tells one story, but when you look in the middle..

RO243 peaked at 155, 55% higher than the target at 5000 miles before dropping to 32ppm at 15,000 miles..where did all that iron go ?

Probably not volitised...sludge maybe ?

208 and 207..is that normal lab error ?...casts a pretty large error bar.

Did the 243 Oil look good at 5,000 miles having exceeded the target ?

Why is the rest of the UOA (including thickening a grade (or two) to be discounted with the final UOA metal tests ?

The ACTUAL content of the paper is the tribofilm formation.

Damaged oil makes better/earlier tribofilms on virgin surfaces...doesn't mean that it's got the overall package to do that forever until the TBN drops below a personal preference.
