What's a current good lab for oil analysis? Specifically for fuel dilution? I have a DI engine in the mazda, and i want to send off a sample now, and probably another in the winter time to check viscosity and fuel dilution.

Oil Analyzers. They use gas chromatography for fuel dilution measurement. Do not use Blackstone.

As I understand it, Oil Analyzers is only capable of measuring F/D up to 5%, not much better than Blackstone.

This is an example of what happens when Oil Analyzers and Blackstone measure the same oil, regarding fuel dilution:

I had very similar results (posted here sometime back but cannot find right now) with Blackstone and Polaris (which I believe to be the core service used by Oil Analyzers).

Go with a service that uses gas chromatography for the most accurate results. Flash point testing is fraught with uncertainty.

When you get to 5% dilution it is time to take some type of action.

The basic package from Blackstone does not include TBN. Always good to have.

This must be a regional or local NAPA offer. I've never seen anything like it around my area so if you happen to have a link or more info please post.

Does Napa use gas chromatography for fuel dilution? If not, waste of time for a Mazda DI engine.
