Offended by Janet Jackson?

Personally I don't care if Janet Jackson had stripped completely. But I think what she and that guy did on national TV before a national TV audience, including children, was wrong.

It is also cultural. In some cultures in the past women used to walk around all day with no top clothing. Men in those cultures did not even get excited seeing women's breasts. Maybe the same will happen in our culture thanks to MTV and all the rest. Eventually nobody will even get excited. What do they do then to be different?

No big deal....something more stupid is the guy suing over mental duress, etc from seeing this orchestrated event on TV. "Frivolous lawyers in suits" are really more a symptom of sickness in our society and that people see something such as this as a money making oportunity....than the actual exposed body parts...

Listen, I am a Christian. Women and men have breasts....what is the big deal here?

I think it's an outrage that women can't go around topless but it's okay for men to swim, mow the lawn, whatever, with no shirt. (Some guys really shouldn't do that

.) This is discrimination of the highest order, and should not be tolerated in civilized society.

The above is typed with tongue planted firmly in cheeck.

I frankly didn't think you could see much and I was watching on a hi-def big screen. I'd worry more about kids asking what "erectile dysfunction" is after every third commercial on the Super Bowl than catching a glimpse of skin.

This lawsuit abuse is really a great threat to our society. It undermines the work ethic (why work when you can sue),it makes our products expensive, the name of the game for businesses and people who have managed to save a few bucks is to try to protect themselves from lawsuits. It already costs lives bc hospitals are busy trying to cover them selves from lawsuits that care is taken away from patients. It is also the reason antibiotics are loosing their effectiveness-docs worry about lawsuits if they don't despense them. It is driving up the cost of medicine to the extent that in Pa. the number of quality dr. is decreasing. Also it is a large reason that drugs are so expensive.

At this point Lawyers are rolling in so much money they are buying politicians-especially Democrats

My take ..I didn't see it (I hate half time shows) ..don't care much. I doubt that there was any real impact upon the masses except for the reaction of the masses to the media hype.

Use this as a proven template. Plug in the "sin" of choice.

Some people can't tolerate cigarette smoke ...and some just use it to vent their displaced anxiety for the miserable pathetic status of their life since they have a valid modality with which to inflict themselves upon others who are in indefensible positions.

Our society is plagued by delusions of victimhood.

JJ made a bad move. Her bad ...let's move on.

I didn't see it on TV, did see a pic on the inet later. My take:

1. She shouldn't have done it. *Very* bad judgement- though not surprising at all. New album coming out, they've gone nekkid on European TV for *years*, etc.

Having said that:

2. It's an awful lot of hooraw for one t*t- even with nipple armor.

No wonder they call it the boob tube!

I guess what bothered me was the venue she chose to do such a stunt. Kids and moms don't need to be "exposed" to it.

Hollywood liberals have for years said, "if you don't like what's on TV turn it off, it's your choice." What I don't like is that viewers weren't given the choice. It's fine for MTV, but don't force it in people's face when they aren't given the choice or warning.

I also don't like the pervasive lying that is going on in our society. They were repeatedly asked if there would be any garbage on the show and they said no. Then they were asked if they intentionally did it and they said no.

We are becoming so used to lying by stars, politicians, corporate scoundrels, etc., that it doesn't mean anything anymore. We are expected to lie when we get caught.

So, in summary. The breast didn't bother me, but the deception did.

I didn't see it (didn't watch the Superbowl, but I did catch a still photograph of the moment) and I don't really care. That said...

Janet saying it was a "wardrobe malfunction"?
...You wear that jewelry all the time?

CBS saying "it wasn't our fault".
...Ever hear of tape delay?

Sometimes the BS is worse than the event. (Of course I did hear there was a ding-a-ling performer wearing an American flag as a poncho. So I guess the event was about as bad as the BS.)

I haven't heard any quotes from Kid Rock, but my take is that he meant no disrespect to the U.S. or the flag because he's one of the few celebrities who publically came out in favor of the war in Iraq. Ted Nugent (of course), James Woods, and Dennis Miller too, BTW. Jay Leno seems to have a latent conservative streak that emerges once in a while, probably because he's a car guy.

Yes, the whole thing was offensive...too much marketing, not enough entertainment. How 'bout a local H.S. band or something with just the two teams' cheerleaders get to show off? Wouldn't guys tune in to THAT? Why all the big names for so little return?

Heck, after I saw that clip I thought to myself "Nope, her brother is still more feminine..."

Johnny,
That was a good link. As usual....that was just proof that most Hollywood celebs are nothing but a bunch of clueless idiots (referring to Cheryl Crow) and preach about peace and humanity at the same time they are snorting or shooting cocaine combined with a heavy dose of alcohol.

Jeanene Gerafalos said "We are doomed if we go into Iraq"....."This will be another Mogadishu"......obviously, she knows her stuff!

To his credit I noticed when he took it off there was somethere to take it and didn't let it hit the deck.

I personally think the whole halftime show stunk.

If Kid Rock wanted to wave a flag or hang it properly great but if your gonna rip a hole in it and wear it as a costume you might as well burn the **** thing.

As far as Janet is concerned it was no accident, it was planned period. They need to be made an example of for it. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to ban porn or anything, I just think nudity has its place and it's not in front of unsuspecting ten year old boys who now think it's funny to yank a girls shirt off for attention.

And then there was the streaker just after halftime. Once again, this is a family event not a bachlor party. I really don't want to limit my son to barney and disney, but it's to the point if you turn on any station you hear four letter words (music awards show) and see nudity (survivor, superbowl)all the time.
