Hey, I (& my Wife) am off work until Jan. 2nd without a whole lot planned.

So far:

- Planned: See my Daughter in Iowa on the 31st

- Possibilities: Ice Fishing, watch Football, organize paperwork, buy/sell stocks, see if there's anything to donate. Cars don't really need anything.

We don't want to fly anywhere or waste money.

So, idea generators, what would be some other things to do?

Well I can give you ideas but Wife, icefishing, booze.

Wife, booze, wife, booze.

Probably bacon and eggs every morning.

Well that's what I'd do and I'm not creative at all.

I just had national grand champion bacon + blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup...

Actually I need to flush the original brake fluid bled on my Saturn...

Take my Wife out to eat a couple times, although she would rather eat at home. She's more frugal than me!

Whatever you do it can't get in the way of the biggest game in years for you! And its against the arch rival Packers. Watch AP run into the teeth of the D when Pack know he's going to run for the record. Pray for a playoff seed. Hope we can get that game out here.

More frugal than you? Does she have a sister?

Maybe something for home improvement?

Any work-related preparations for the new year? Getting new software set up etc?

Could start your taxes.

I have trouble taking time off to just relax btw.

I'm off till the 7th.. The ultimate goal is going to work on the house but will do my all time favorite of annoying the wife and torturing the children. It's going to be a blast! Nobody just relaxes anymore so try to work some of that in with some exercise. By the time work comes around you'll feel like a new man.

I'd take a day and be lazy around the house. Put on a favorite movie and kick back at 9 AM. Let the wife sleep in if she likes sleeping in.

Once that gets old, and it does pretty quickly, re-set the house from the holiday madness or go vacuum out the car.

There also has to be something that work has kept you from getting done. I'd get it done if it's more time-expensive than money-expensive.

Head to the Science Museum and see TORNADO ALLEY in the IMAX theater. I've been through an F4 tornado here in Minneapolis and even though it was a long time ago, the memories are still vivid. This is a great show, and the rest of the museum ain't too bad, either.

I would have suggested taking the wife and going someplace warm for a week.
You've said that you don't want to fly and don't want to waste money (although I don't consider a vacation with one's spouse a waste of money), so I guess that's out.

She's a great cook that why she likes to eat her own cooking.

Sleep...read; relax..that's what I'd do if i had a few days off...
Rest my eyes..and mind.

I feel so sleep deprived and staring at a computer all day at work makes my eyes tired.

Yea, now we're making Baked Walleye I caught on Upper Red Lake 2 days ago:

EV Olive Oil on bottom of glass pan.
Couple squares of Butter down.
lay the Walleye filets on it.
Pour "Shore Lunch" fish batter on the Walleye.
Sprinkle Lemon Pepper on.
Sprinkle Parmesean Cheese on and bake.
