thanks guys. I'm going to run it to 8K even though OCI is 7.5, I don't want to order sustina until I am sure I have the cheapest I can buy, plus I rather it come out of next payday. About to double check the level when I fuel up.[/quo

As someone once said "a f__l and his money is soon gone".

Why do you need such an expensive oil, when on the Walmart shelf there are a number of top-tier oils ((M-1, PP etc.) to meet your Mirage' needs.......at a third of the cost.

im sure it will be ok if it is recommended for 7500 most people don't remember oil changes anyway. I know people that change their oil once a year and have no problems

'I rather it come out of next payday' means you shouldn't be spending so much money on oil, especially when you don't need to. Whats wrong with the other readily available oils again?

Anything bought for a reasonable price at a store like walmart or anywhere readily available isn't as good as something you can barely afford and have to wait for shipping.

I know people I work with that will only use royal purple. I've mentioned mobil 1 and pennzoil being just as good for cheaper. The most common response was that they were cheaper for a reason. The price is what denotes quality for those mindsets.

Don't buy the sustina dude ... Sounds like money is tight.
I would go with the AAP QSUD and carquest red for$20

Or Napa syn and fram ultra filter used for 2 oci

+2. Also don't buy Royal Purple or Amsoil and the marketing fluff that comes with it. Running a script are you.

To answer your question, no you should not throw in some M1 EP or anything else for that matter. Your RL will be just fine even if you stretched it out to 10k miles.

Having said that, as the others have said, the cheapest synthetics from Walmart will be more than adequate for your Mirage and your engine will still last the 200k miles you are hoping to get out of it (I'm referring to your thread from 3 months ago). I'm not sure what you are hoping to gain by paying a ridiculous sum of money to buy Sustina when you won't notice any appreciable gains in engine performance or longevity over whatever you can find at Walmart.

Take the money you would've saved and buy your girlfriend something nice. Christmas is just over two months away.

So I think an argument can be made for changing your oil sooner than 8k miles, and that's because a 2014 vehicle is still under warranty, and i don't know what the OCI stated in your owner manual is.

This is also why you shouldn't be using overly expensive oils in a new car. Because you many people wont do extended OCIs while under warranty, you don't get the value out of using expensive oils.

What's your reason for wanting to use the Sustina? I'm assuming you're thinking it's better for your vehicle and will make it last longer. My assumption is that people often come on here wanting the "best" oil because they think it'll make their vehicles last forever.

People seem to think that expensive motor oil is the fountain of youth for their car, but it's not. Yes, bad oil or not changing the oil will eventually mess up your car. But as long as the oil you use and the OCI are appropriate for your vehicle, then your engine will be just fine, and super expensive oil isn't going to extend its life any longer.

Also, I have never seen anything to indicate that using overly expensive oils over quality brand name oils would increase the life of the vehicle. Oh the manufacturers of the overly expensive oil will give reasons why their oil is the best, but I've never seen any real world uses that indicate it. In fact, I've seen countless examples of where a person used regular PYB, QS, Valvoline, etc with an appropriate OCI, and never had an oil related issue with the vehicle.

If you go get the $20 QSUD deal that's on sale right now, and slap on a Fram Ultra filter, your vehicle will last exactly as long as it will using the $60 oil. That's because vehicles usually come to an end because they either get wrecked, sold, rusted out, or non-oil related repairs become more expensive than the vehicle is worth.

I vote to change your oil at the recommended OCI in your manual, and use the recommended grade/viscosity oil. If you want to make sure you're using a quality oil, than use M1, PP, or any of the other "normal" priced synthetics that meet your vehicle's requirements.

It's a Mirage so you could perhaps classify that engine as a "stressed engine" since it has such small output. You probably need to run the engine very hard during daily driving to get a decent amount of acceleration. When you think about that perhaps Redline does not seem so silly?

Pretty sure that's not how this saying goes.

OP is fairly new member, he registered about 4 months ago.

Some loves their vehicles than other drivers, and many don't know that more expensive fluids don't translate to more protection in shorter OCI. They think that the more they spend the better their vehicle will be protected.

Give him some slacks, using your knowledge to guide him to find a better ROI is better than making fun of him.

Can Napa order it for you? Napa here has all weights for $9 a quart (0W50 is the only crazy priced weight at $15 a quart). The few times I've ordered stuff from them they've always had it by the next day.

The OP could just go to Walmart and get a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 0W-20 EP and a Fram Ultra filter for under $40.

The 2014 Mirage with the 1.2L 3-cyl engine takes ~3.25 quarts. This leaves the OP with 1.75 quarts left over. All the OP needs to do is get 2 quarts of EP and a new filter for the next oil change.

No need to use designer oils.
