OCI poll, mileage is in miles.

Dino Oil:
6 k or less:
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less:
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

I go first, I feel comfortable with 6-7k miles with dino and 10-15 k miles with synthetic.

Copy the selection above and update your choice(s)
Example, the second person selects 6 k or less for dino and 8.1-10.0 k for syn:

Dino Oil:
6 k or less: 1
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less:
8.1-10.0 k: 1
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

Dino Oil:
6 k or less: 1
6.1-8.0 k:
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k:
15.1 k or more:

5K for dino and 7.5K on synthetic for me without doing a UOA to extend.

Do you want this to be cumalative? As in copy the last entry in the thread and ADD my choice. Or do you want people to just indicate their individual preference as volk did?

Guessing you want the additive. I'll include Volk's choice as well:
Dino Oil:
6 k or less:2
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less:2
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

Dino, don't use since synthetic is so cheap in the US.
Synthetic, 7,000-10,000 miles.

Yes, I like this to be cumulative just like slug_bug did for up to his entry.

This study is to show a member that almost nobody like the idea of 10k or more OCI with lowest dino oil can be purchased at Walmart.

So far only 5 responds, need more than 100 to have good statistic.

Dino Oil:
6 k or less:3
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less:5
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

Dino Oil:
6 k or less:4
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less: 6
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

Kinda depends on the car IMO. My Civic is specced for 10k OCI while my Accord is specced for a 7.5k OCI. But both of them get changed at or around 7k

Dino Oil:
6 k or less:5
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1 k or more:

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less: 7
8.1-10.0 k:
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more:

Less than 6 dino and less than 8 syn. With a UOA I could go a long time though.

2004 Saturn Ion: Synthetic, whenever the CHG OIL light goes off.

2004 Saturn Vue: Conventional, whenever the CHG OIL light in my car goes off, as both cars have the same engine and Mom drives more than I do. Her OLM doesn't seem to work. She was well over 10,000 miles one time with no signs of it going off. Ran Mobil conventional, now PYB or QSAD.

1984 Caravan: Yearly. Usually whatever is cheapest or just whatever I had laying around. Will probably be using either Rotella 10-30 or Mag1 Allfleet 10-30 from now on.

1967 VW Beetle: Conventional (with ZDDP additive if needed), but have been using T6 lately. Every twenty tanks of gas.

Dino - 3 months

Blend/HM - 4 months

Synthetic - rarely use, 6 months.

Tons of low speed stop and go and short trips. I go by time over mileage, and forget about waiting for the OLM on the Trailblazer.

I feel comfortable with 5-6k miles with Most Dino/conventional and 10k miles with most synthetic motor oils.

IMO...There are exceptions, of course, to which Dino Oils I would run and to those that don't make the cut.

I didn't include the 2 or 3 respondents before me since they didn't follow the instructions. Hee hee

Including mongo161 OCI. MinamiKotaro and Salv are not included because no mileage posted.

So far most do 6k or less with dino and 8k or less with syn. I'm the only one do 6-8k with dino and 10-15k with syn; I had been doing these long OCI's for more than 15 years with the API SE-SF in '91 Accord, '94 LS400, '00 E430 ...

What do you think about up to 10k OCI with Walmart Super Tech Dino ? How about extend OCI to 15k with the same Super Tech Dino ?

Dino Oil:
6 k or less:7
6.1-8.0 k: 1
8.1-10.0 k: 0
10.1 k or more: 0

Synthetic Oil:
8 k or less: 8
8.1-10.0 k: 1
10.1-15.0 k: 1
15.1 k or more: 0

6k or less for dino

8k or less on synthetic, wasteful i know, but i do recycle it!

as far as 10k on ST not me. ill buy Mobil super 5k over ST anyday. the price difference is less than a dollar per 5qts. Ill leave the super long OCI on dino for the guys who want to knock syn users for wasting money, even though they are paying out $35 every OCI to test their dino. i prefer to run my syn at 5-6k miles and change twice for the price of one ST dino run at 10k miles with a UOA.

M1 5qts = $25 purolator =4$ $29 every 5k total money = $58

ST 5qt = $13 purolator = 4$ + 35$ UOA total money = $52

ill take one less big mac once every six months and have two orders of syn please!
