Does anybody else in part base their OCI on what and how much oil they have on hand and how cheaply you got it for, II have about 5 oil changes of oil on hand and have noticed that I cannot wait until I hit 5K miles so I can change it and reduce my stash and eventually replace it with some other find, most of the oil I purchase averages about $3-4 a quart, some semi-syn, some full syn. though mostly semi-syn. I never used to think about oil until a few hundred miles before my next OCI, any others out there?

I know I do... but I have to constantly fight the urge to drop it early.
Been fighting the urge to drop the PP fill in the Accord - I'm doing my best to keep it in until 7,500 miles . I have 1k to go. But my stash says otherwise.

Nope, my stash is depleting but that's because I maintain so many cars and there hasn't been any sales lately. Usually in the winter Auto Zone clearances oil for $1 a quart.

I tried hard to resist the urge to change oil in my cars. Yes, I do have enough oil for 4-5 changes for all cars, but I only change oil few weeks before registration renewal.

Resist the urge to change oil in E430 is hard, because it is so easy and quick to do it with Mityvac 7201.

BITOG. Buy quality oil on sale, dump early, repeat.

I used to be into stashing. After selling a car the oil was bought for, jug(s) leaking etc., I am done.

Having oil on hand for 1 OCI if it can be found on sale is about my limit. Mobil 1's current rebate for example, but I have until Oct. 31.

I change it in my trk each Oct so I'm getting antsy.
I have about 5 different brands to pick from for this change.
I do it in Oct as a treat to myself that maybe summer is finally over but this yr it may still be hot.

I change at roughly 12-15 months regardless(mid/late spring), which is usually around 8-10K mi... What I have on hand will hold me till next years changes plus break in a fresh Ford 331(5.0 with stroker crank), only then will I buy some new stock..

I change the oil in my vehicles depending on how the vehicles use has been. long trips vs short trips.

I don't have much urge to waste oil by changing on a feel good whim. In the end, it's just oil, not better plugs or some other alteration which might actually do something you'd notice.

Nope.

What it costs is only a partial representation of the actual cost, you know, the wars over there in the sandbox.
In fact because Americana actually fight and DIE for the stuff I'm of the opinion that extended intervals are the only way to go.

It is a finite resource that pollutes our environment terribly and only a fool changes it based on a whim.

The only oil stash I have is just for top ups if needed, which they usually aren't. I have 1 quart of Pennzoil yellow bottle, 1 quart of Mobil 1, 1 quart of Castrol Edge & 1 quart of MaxLife blend. I always buy fresh oil & filter off the shelf 1-2 weeks before the change. No oil stash here.

I do 12 month OCI now. So after doing an oil change I wait for the oil to go on sale and buy enough for just 1 oil change.

If I get rid of my car I am not stuck with a gigantic stash, and doing 12 months I don't have to change oil too often.

I do OC's for five vehicles, counting friends, and I have enough oil and filters on hand to do 15 changes. I do get the itch to change early in my Ridgeline and M35. Sometimes I resist and sometimes I cave. But it doesn't stop me from adding to my stash. Today I bought a 5 quart jug of Parts Plus synthetic blend 5w-20 (made by Amalie) for $12.69. Minus the $4 MIR, that comes to $1.74 a quart. It's either a weakness or a disease, like Tommy LaSorda said.

Nope, I do six month oil changes. Sometimes I get anxious to do an oil change just because I got new oil to try, but I still wait until the appropriate time to do an oil change.

I change oil on a reasonable time and mileage basis and sometimes for convenience.
As an example, the Focus will get a change this week at a little less than 5K on its current oil just so that I can then avoid a winter change on a car that lives ninety miles from my garage.
I don't change oil just because I have plenty of oil in the stash.
I have had a net increment in the stash this year due to what I thought were deals too good to pass up, so I probably need to follow my own purchasing rules and only buy oil FAR.
