Finally replaced it this weekend. Proper action on the sensor now. I had to have the flexpipe replaced, so while it was in the shop I had them loosen the sensor for me (I was worried it'd be stuck in). Still, it was a bear to twist out, and looked all but crossthreaded. Putting in the new one resulted in the same amount of effort. Pipe threaded? Regardless, done, hopefully for a long time.
Must say, I did not care for the Bosch replacement sensor. It didn't come with the rubber grommet for the floor, so I attempted to reuse the old one (doesn't work). I skipped removing the driver's seat but in some ways I wish I had, as it was a pain, hanging upside down to get to that connector.
