NuFinish is a fine product---your best choice for longevity at Wal-mart. It doesn't get any love in real detailing forums because there are better products that last longer, shine better, and don't stain trim. In the Consumer Reports study that the NuFinish fan boys like to quote, NuFinish didn't even last 6 months---it lasted just "several months." To use the familiar weak argument that the haters have never used the product is just plain dumb. Many of us have used it and have moved on to better products.

2 Excellent points. NuFinish will never touch my paint. There are just too many other better products and $8 at Walmart is not saving me much money over the other products.

+1 I tried it years ago and didn't like it, it was nothing special. But it might be worth a shot on the beater, seeing all the positive feedback it gets here. I'd like to see just how well it holds up.

I used nufinish and it lasts quite long, but the staining of plastic trim was not for me.

I use Optimum Opti-Seal paint sealant. It's not an OTC product, but it lasts long, you use very little and you can apply it on plastics and in direct sun. I couldn't be happier with this product.

Take a toothbrush to the white stain on the trim and it is gone. I have found NuFinish to last at least a full 9 months.

Opti-seal is the bomb, love it. I also use Ultima Paint guard plus which is an excellent paint protection product and looks excellent.

That's your opinion.

Looks like your opinion as well. It is a fact though that NuFinish is extremely durable and long lasting....no question or debate about it, it is a proven product.

There's some detailing products that I've been wanting to try...Adams products..? The wax is 70 bucks. On the camaro forum I'm on everyone talks about how great the stuff is. The point of this thread isn't to say that nu-finish is the best wax that money can possibly buy. I just wanted to share that I'm always impressed with it...especially considering a big bottle is only 8 bucks...I haven't tried anything better for 8 bucks.

Yep, my opinion and many, many others too. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone, It's just when someone claims nothing will last as long as NuFinish, well that's just an opinion, not fact. I don't want people to think they can get the best wax/sealant in the world for $8 a bottle. But it is a very durable product no doubt. I only wish I could be a NuFinish fanboy because it's only $6-$8 a bottle, but unfortunately, that's not the case. They do have top notch marketing though.

Nu-Finish smells like it contains Kerosene, so it is a great one-step cleaner wax to save time.

The married man with two kids trying to remodel the house and fix the cars to save money doesn't have the time to buff a car with compound, polish, then wax.

Nu-Finish does a good job cutting through grease, grime and road-film, then leaving a deceny layer of protection.

Uh, you are supposed to wash the car before you apply the wax/sealant.

I maintain that your location does not allow you to objectively look at durability.

You do have a good point. The winters we have here are nothing like you guys up north.

Anything is better then nothing. I've got a 99 camaro with 140k on it. Wax it 2 times a year and it shines better then even new cars in my neighborhood.
Application and ease of removal is everthing for a weekend warrior.

Colorado can be very harsh on cars paint. Even so I tried just about every wax on the market. NuFinish just out lasts them all and most by a huge margin. Duragloss is one that lasts as long and shines better.

Very few places that I have seen out in the western part of the country seem to have the kind of airborne pollution, acid rain, trees/leaves and associated acidity from them being on paint, salt, or moisture level combination of most of the east part of the country.

NuFinish is going to outlast any wax with the possible exception of Collinite. In fact, any sealant is going to outlast any wax, with the possible exception of Collinite. I am a Duragloss user. I love the fact that it has strong cleaners, diminishing abrasives, protects for so long, doesn't stain trim, and is inexpensive. It is my favorite AIO. I have never tested its longevity past 6 months because I detail my cars twice a year. However, after six months and one application of Duragloss and one of Collinite 845, my two vehicles still look great and are still beading. In Oklahoma, we get extreme heat and extreme cold. In fact, Oklahoma just had the hottest month on record in the US. I believe our recent 3 month period was the 3rd hottest ever. In 2nd and 3rd place are Oklahoma and Texas. Of course, it gets much colder here in Tulsa, OK than Texas (I've seen -45 with wind chill). So this is the perfect place to test the longevity of waxes and sealants.

I agree.

From what I've read from articles including Consumer Reports is that Nu-Finish is a polymer based product that out last conventional waxes. When you compare this wax to tohers in a higher price bracket you'll realize these guys practically invented polymer wax.....and it cheaper too.

I admit I use the what my local car wash uses to keep my cars in nice shape but if my complex would allow car washes I'd do it myself and use this product.

Durango

I know people who wax once a year with Nu Finish, and their paint still looks good 13 years later. I am a bit more obsessed, and tend to apply nu finish followed by gold class wax.

I find Nu Finish lasts about 6 months in my climate, I just applied a layer of Nu Finish before the heavy snowfall sets down.
I park on a street and the city of MTL loves to use lots of salt!!
