Normal Oil Consumption Rate? Better Oil?

My 94 Land Cruiser has always used oil at an increasingly rate. When I got it used at 200,000 mi it used 1 qt after 3000 mi, 1 qt after 2500 mi, 1 qt after 2000 mi etc. This was with synthetic and dino oils.
Now that I have 435,000 om it is used 1 qt after 1800 mi, 1 qt after 1100 mi, 1 qt after 900 mi, 1 qt after 800 mi, 1 qt 900 mi and 1 qt after 700 mi.
This was with Rotella T6 and one bottle of LM Motor Oil Saver.

This is my first vehicle doing long oil change intervals, use to change at 3000 mi, now do it at 9000 mi. Is this normal oil consumption or is there something thinning or reducing viscosity of my oil?

I used the Motor Oil Saver to reduce start up smoke. It works best with LM MOS2 10w40 to reduce start up smoke. MOS2 oil got pricey so I went back to Rotella T6 with more start up smoke, its not as bad as other oils, I have tried several brands of oil. I dont see blue smoke in my mirror with normal or hard driving.

Is there a better oil or oil additive that I can use to reduce my consumption? I drive 500 miles a week. Tried M1 in the past and went through 1 qt per tank of gas with hard driving a high rpms.

How is your compression?

You could try a piston soak. Perhaps you have some stuck rings?

Also check PCV valve.

At 435K mi perhaps he has some long worn out rings??

Have replaced the PCV many time over the years with no change.

Will check compression soon.

I did a piston soak on my 87 Land Cruiser and it helped. I used Seafoam. It didn't work right away. Some time after piston soaking and using Seafoam in oil (and other products) I was driving and BAM, it all the sudden got a boost in power. It was like a turbo kick in. Ran strong after that.

Seafoam good for piston soak or is there something more effective product?

Is my consumption normal or should change to a dino oil and change at 3000 mi?

Am I hurting anything buy using that much oil or would I be better off changing more often and using less?

What is the 2 cycle oil for?

You are just polluting more. Not sure anything will slow the consumption. Your engine is worn out. Go to thicker oil.

Wonder if im lucky enough to get that many miles! Id have to drive more!

Top end lube, but it's not really necessary with that many miles ... It's doing it's own top end lube.

I use Break-Free gun solvent to loosen stuck rings. It's a carbon solvent. Big shot in each plug hole and soak overnight. Fire it up next day and warm it up and change oil.

I'd prolly try a high mileage all synthetic in 10W-40 or 15w40 as in diesel engine oil (HDEO) and see if that makes a difference ...

You are really experimenting with end-of-life here ...

So it's using 1 quart in 700 miles? At that rate it's being completely refreshed by 9000 miles.

Smoke at startup is caused by worn valve stem seals which are pretty easy to replace and would be a good place to start if they haven't been replaced recently.

A piston soak sounds good too.

Lastly, if it continues to burn that much oil, use a cheapo filter, cheap 10w-40, Restore, and do 3000 mile OCIs again.

My Accord has got you beat on oil burning. Here are couple suggestions based on my own experiences; try thinner oil not thicker. (I know my valve guide seals are fine, yours are probably not. I would consider replacing them.) The rings in my engine are shot, with thicker oil more stays on the cylinder wall and my burn rate increases. I've run every weight from 5w20 to 20w50.

Also, try making 3/4 of a quart low your new full mark. My Accord will eat the first quart much faster than the 2nd. I've started not filling it back up to full and it has cut down on the burn rate.

With the miles your racking up you can figure out results fast. Keep updating the thread, I'm curious to see what happens.

I've tried engine Restore. I put the V8 can in my Honda a few times, it helped briefly but not enough to justify the cost.

In another vehicle red bottle Maxlife cut oil consumption more than any oil I've used.

No, you won't be able to do this. Your Corolla odometer will max out at 299,999

I don't think 1 qt in 700 miles is that extreme given the mileage. Just check and top off often. I'd be wary of using a flush with something that high mileage. Who knows what sludge is lurking where.
