I changed the oil on my wife's car today. I put in 5 quarts of Tune It (SuperTech) 5W-20 and an FRAM Orange Can all from Wally. The the whole thing costed me $21.

Not bad. Think I got you beat though. 4 qts of closeout chevron supreme or whatever it's called at $2/qt and a $3 store brand wix = $11

I once did an OC with a gallon of Delo 30 weight from Autozone I got for $.99 and a fram from a yard sale I paid 6.25 cents for (Four for a quarter).

That impresses me more than $40 syn oil changes that are dumped at 5k, which is typical on this board.

My van is running 10$ VWB with a 3.50$ purolator oil filter. It will run 10k miles like the previous two oci's.

I did an oil change this past week using a P1 and a jug of FAR G-Oil full syn.
It cost me $6.00 total, since the P1 was $3.50 with AAP online price plus coupon code and the G-Oil was around fifty cents a quart after postage and sales tax.
I can do a change with less than FAR oil from the stash and a Fram orange can bought on clearance from Lowes for literally less than free.
Yes, I'm being a snobish.

Das Beste oder nichts?

Almost nobody knows what’s circulating from our sumps or screwed onto their respective blocks,
except for my maintenance journals and deductible expense records.

Or cares. That's only for my own personal OCD/idiosyncrasies...and the gang at BITOG.

Pfft. I change my oil wearing a Ralph Lauren polo shirt and Nautica shorts. I am afraid of bringing down the neighborhood.

Well done. I would consider the same if I lived in a moderate climate, didn't drive a lot, or had an older vehicle.
As it is, it will be 5 quarts Amsoil OE 0w20 and a genuine Subaru filter shortly, at $4.40 a quart and $6 for the filter for $28. Not too bad.

Now on the Wrangler it will get a little snobby, with 4 1/2 quarts Amsoil 0w30 SS and Amsoil filter, total around $48. Once a year though.

I'm using Rural King Synthetic ($2.79 per quart) and the "no-brainer" $4.89 Motorcraft FL-500S filter on my Mustang. I've decided that most of what I read on this forum is just hype and this car is getting nothing but store brand oil.

Hmmm, what is snobish oil?

$10 a quart synthetic that is change at 5K with a Fram Ultra filter.

LOL, I scored so much $1/qt synthetic from AZ a few months ago that EVERYTHING sounds expensive to me. I also purchased a bunch of WIX filters from rockauto. I'm doing name brand synthetic and wix filter changes at the tune of about $8 a pop for the next 2-3 year.

Lol, do not mind paying even more for oil, but FRAM will never find place on my engine.

LOL, since Fram makes more efficient filters with greater holding capacity and at least equivalent build quality for many applications than what you've got on your cars now.
You'd pay more than ten bucks a quart for oil for a VW?
Walmart has M1 0W-40 for twenty six bucks and change in five quart jugs all day long, and often for less.
Most German cars require nothing more and I'm not sure that you can buy a better oil for Euro certs at any price.

Depends what you need, Full-SAPS, Mid-SAPS (currently I have Mid-SAPS $44 5ltr), or Low-SAPS.
Still not putting FRAM in. Just do not trust them.
