anyone have a 2.5 altima on here and are running mobil 1? just switched to mobil 1 5W30 high mileage synthetic last oil change and seems to be doing fine. will be sending it to blackstone labs at 3,000 miles. just was wondering if anyone else ran M1 and how they liked it

As the owner of a 2002 Altima 2.5, you have bigger problems to worry about than oil. The pre-cat will probably eat your engine out before your have any lube-related problems.

Just a word of caution, 02 2.5L defective precats all, synthetic or dino will make no difference. Had a great UOA posted here myself back in 09 on standard Valvoline dino, didn't matter. Running QS synthetic when the precat puked.

Good luck.

edit, looks like critic beat me to it, but I speak from personal experience.

??

no precat worries here, i put a header on back in november to get rid of the pre cat. doesnt burn a drop of oil. not getting rid of it, i paid 1,000 bucks for it only because of a paint defect, have put 18,000 miles in the past year ive owned it and it hasnt missed a lick.

i have 2010 nissan altima coupe 2.5 and i am running 5w30 EP and runs great 6500 miles and counting.

Been running m1 ep 5w30 for the last 30k miles (10k OCIs) and so far so good in my 06 2.5 Altima. Just changed the plugs for the first time at 90k and they came out CLEAN. It's consuming a little oil, but I think it may be time for the PCV valve to be replaced.

Lucky and somewhat surprising for an 02, you got to it before the precat hurled. Just wondering how the upstream O2 sensor was handled with the header. In this state, that modification wouldn't be legal. That said, what Nissan left to 02-03 2.5L owners shouldn't be legal either. Knowing what I know now, couldn't blame anyone for taking matters into their own hands.

To the topic, until the precat blew, my 03 did just fine on dino with 5k/6month OCI's.

OT, you need to read my signature link. Can't be a "fan" of a company that decieves it's buyers/owners. Refusing to fix one part they know is defective, a precat, and allowing engines to needlessly fail because of it.

Nissan left 2.5L owners with a ticking time bombs, saying you're on your own. Just the facts, it is what it is.

grambo, my car has 107, 500 miles. sayjac, the upper sensor, i fooled the SES light by adding the two spacers that came with the header. the header sure was a pain to install, i did it myself, but its a learning experience and more knowledge to be gained.
