New tool thread

That alone would set off some alarm bells.
Infant mortality is less than ideal, I concur.

But Milwaukee customer service has been great to me. After I sent my Insider in for warranty, then having the same issue and sending it again, a rep from the WI office reached out to me and we had a lengthy conversation about my use case and I even sent them a few pieces of the hardware I was having issues with.

As thanks for the details and to make up for my issues with the Insider, he sent me two new Extended Reach High Speeds (¼ and ⅜) and two new 2.5 H.O. batteries.

My experience with their customer service was worse than terrible and because of it I will never buy anything from them again.
I bought a 12v pipe cutter from HD, paid cash got a receipt. In a short time the battery would not charge so I went to the HD and spoke to the Milwaukee rep who was there, she said no problem I will sent it in and you will get a new one.

About a week later I get a call from Milwaukee saying the battery is older and no warranty, I told her I just recently bought this and have the receipt and I have no idea how long it was in HD warehouse before I bought the tool. She then accused me of attempting to steal from them by sending an old battery. I told her this is the only tool I have from Milwaukee and have no other batteries, she didn't care and continued to insist I was trying to rip them off. They did not even return my broken battery.

That is one reason i adopted Ryobi...lots of tool options from inflators to impacts to lawn equipmemt, etc. And it's more than enough power/durability for DIY use.

If you end up opting for the Ryobi edger and depending on how often you plan to use it, it may be worth considering a battery adapter for Makita/Ryobi (about $12-15 at ebay/amazon/walmart). OTOH a 4Ah battery still has 4/4 bars after I finish using the edger, so a single battery/charger should suffice.
Oh, cool! I didn't know that existed. I will definitely check into that. Would save a lot of money and hassle. Thanks.

The one time I had sorta similar I figured out their email format -- eg [email protected] and Googled their higher ups (names). I emailed a bunch of 'em and the problem was resolved the next day. Funny how that works.

That said, you shouldn't have to go to those lengths, I understand

If Milwaukee pulls warranty nonsense with me I won't let them get away with it, but I understand it's disheartening, irritating and a time suck to argue your case.

New tools from eBay. 3/4x7/8 double box end wrench. It’s hard to find a 19x22 and I don’t think many brands make them and I wanted a Craftsman one anyway so I got this one. This is good for adjusting rear toe on Toyota stuff so I don’t have to keep switching wrenches or sockets. I plan to buy a whole set soon but they are going for crazy prices so I settled for one right now. And then a Craftsman USA 22mm 6 point 1/2 drive socket. I had to hunt for weeks to find a 6 point Craftsman one. Then I found 2 this one for $7 and another one for almost $22 so I got this one. I guess the 6 points are significantly more rare than the 12 points.

Got a couple odds and ins today. Duralast 10mm deep 1/4 drive socket. My Craftsman Taiwan one is under the hood of some RAV4 out there lol. I had a Snap-on one but I don’t like to use it because the chrome started peeling off a lot more so I’m going to get it warrantied but I forgot today. A 22mm wrench to have so I don’t have to unroll my set of Snap-on that goes from 20-24 I can just grab this one and go. I actually will say I liked the fit of this one it seems a bit tighter than Snap-on to be honest. Power Torque short ball allen sockets. I have a long set of Carlyle at work already but I know a place where the 10mm one will be very useful on some Toyota stuff. Also got a Power Torque 10mm deep 1/4 drive socket too which I put in the car tool bag. I also picked up three Snap-on chrome 6 point 1/2 drive sockets a 17mm deep, 21mm deep and 30mm shallow. The guy at O’Reilly was like if any of these break just bring it back and we will replace it no questions asked. Glad to see they acknowledge the tool has a warranty. It was the O’Reilly in my work town and AutoZone I work less than a mile from both and Advance Auto is right next door so I love going to these places on my lunch break. Napa is about a 5 minute drive but they don’t have any tools hardly at all. This O’Reilly still had some of the old brand GM Performance tools there I was so tempted to get them but I sure don’t need them lol. The Snap-on are all for the house. Didn’t need the 30 it just looked cool and mine are all 12 point so had to get the 6 point lol.

checkout Cripe Distributing, sometimes you get lucky on name brand tools cheap.

I get it but could be bothered going a further than I did, there are lots of other power tool companies that make better products.

Some new tools today. I keep loosing my 1/4 hex adapters so I have to keep buying more lol. Got an extra gasket scraper for the house because I think the one I have isn’t the greatest and I’ve got to replace the valve cover gasket on the mower this weekend so wanted to go ahead and get one. Then I got a pretty much new 1-1/8 socket Craftsman USA to fill in one of my sets. And a warranty replacement Gearwrench 14mm ratcheting wrench my old one the switch broke on. Took about a week and a half to arrive and didn’t have to send the old one back.
