new tires pick up more nails than old ones?

Seems like rear tires get more nails, etc in them. Theory is because stuff gets kicked up by the front tires, which then the rear tires can pick up.

I agree, when I pull off the winter tires, which are soft, the rears are full of stones, and the fronts have almost none. No problems with tire rotations the next time they go on, on knowing the old positions.

Sometimes I think so too. I plug my own tires though.

new tires pick up less "nails" and sustain less damage from them.

However tire damage to new tires is the most painful.
Counter intuitive, but interesting information. And as noted, ime buying from DT gets prorated tire warranty if in RMA non repairable area, making it less painful.

Yup. When was the last time you saw a nail or screw standing straight up all by itself and not sticking out of a board.
