White can right, and holes vs louvres...

The wide spacing at the seam is hypothesized to be the culprit in tears...

Maybe I can't read, but when I order the filters in that spreadsheet by model number, there are at least 3 different ones that have as many "failures" as the 14610. If you are going to scrap them, send them to 53' Stude instead. No sense in wasting what's obviously a decent-looking, short OCI filter.

Good point. If my friend still has his beater 98' accord 4 speed car I'll use them on that for 3k

Yup same for me. I have two or three in box unused. I don't know what I'm saving them for. Maybe I'll experiment with them? I am always that close to cutting them open and recycling them.
 
Actually I used one as a glycol filter on an ice cream machine to clean up the glycol system, & it didn't tear. Caught a lot of junk too, so maybe they would make an OK coolant filter.
