I plan to make first oil change @2500 miles, then at 5000 miles go to Mobil 1 and pure one filter.and then every 5000 miles with M1 and pure one filters.Jeep is a daily driver, off road once or twice a year.Opinions welcome.

Your plan sounds good to me. I dumped the factory fill in my honda at 2,500mi, went dino 2,500mi more, and then have used synthetic since then. Now at 102k, everything is still perfect.

When does Jeep recommend dumping the factory fill?

Fitzz47 do you have the new 5.7? Adam I have a Ram 1500 3.7 and was running tropartic but changed it out after 3k and decided to run mobil1 from now own.Had a 2002 4.7 and ran valvoline syn power for 100k never used, leaked or anything good engine.

I'm sorry its a Wrangler with the old straight 4.0 six.I didn't want to wait for the 07 with the v6 from the mini van.Wrangler is coming out with a new Jeep in 07.

That 4.0 is a good engine ,I,m going to do the same mobil1 for 5k mile oil changes in my v6 and call it good.

Ah...you've got a collectable

Great engine. Not good on fuel ..but nothing short of a diesel will be anyway

Unfortunately, you've got an idiot needle for a pressure gauge

..otherwise I'd ask you what pressures that you see. They vary a good bit from year to year ..and even within some model years.

If you use Mobil 1 I advise you to check the UOA section and note that Mobil 1 10W30 has not done so well in the 4.0, as far as iron wear goes.
Maybe the newer formula is better, but I'd want to see a UOA on it before I used it. There are too many less expensive oils that give much better wear numbers in this engine.
Good score on the 4.0 rather than the V-6.
