New Formula - Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF

I wonder how this would compare to Amsoil's universal synthetic fluid? I may just end up putting this in my IS300 transmission! Btw does anyone know how many quarts of atf an 03 IS300 transmission holds?

EDIT: I may also look into putting this into my mom's RX330. Both cars require Toyota T-IV.

Brookfield is about double from prior Mobil1 ATF. That with the pour point being higher, does that not imply a move from PAO to Type III?

Seems like a step backward for us that don't need the new approvals. Might be time to stock up for my older cars. Right?

so does that make this the only Fully Synthetic ATF that officially claims to 'exceed JASO 1A requirements' ?

the only other one making that claim is Castrol IMV, but it's a blend.

Or less pour point additives. Stock up!!!!!!

All of these Multi Vehicle ATF's are a jack of all trades, master of none. IMO.

Probably you're right, but again, is that based on facts ? or atleast convincing theory ? or is it just speculation/imagination ?
I didn't find any UOAs for multi-vehicle ATFs over here.

All the specs on the "recommended" list are there because the fluid cannot meet the specs and receive the license. That does not mean that it won't perform well or that it will damage those transmissions. ExxonMobil's legal department made sure of that before they let that wording on the label.

Recently "Lubes & Greases" trade magazine had an article about why there cannot be any more multi-approval fluids. Just the required viscosity of each fluid prevents that. The required vis of Dexron-VI and Mercon-V are different, as is ATF+4, so combined licenses for these fluids is not possible like we had with Dexron-III & Mercon.

Would I use this ATF in a "recommended" application?...yes.

I think there is a lot of visc and CF cross-over after the fluid goes in-service. Those parameters change and overlap. fwiw, after trying alot of different ones, I'm liking the Castrol HM ATF in our old Honda and will continue with AMSoil in the new Honda.

Would Redline D4 ATF also fall into this "jack of all trades" category?

Possibly true, but old formulation of Mobil 1 ATF (Mercon V spec) has served me well over the past two years.

I hope the new spec ATF will as well, when I change current fill.
