Rarely have I been "hit" with a car that seems so nice to have.

The new European Honda Civic 5 Door looks stunning and the performance of the diesel option beats the 1.8 liter gasoline Vtec to boot with 55 mpg!

Why bother with hybrids? when a hybrid battery goes bad won't there be a serious problem with battery disposal?

I would suspect that the batteries can be recycled just like regular car batteries can now. I'm sure it will add to the cost of replacement as an "environmental disposal fee" or something.

I agree, the diesel would be a good option.

That is nice.

I'd allow an exemption for more nox and soot if a vehicle emitted much less co2 as a diesel is apt to do.

link please??????

batteries, regardless of type, are an energy and hazmat intensive thing to work with in any sort of recycling process. Id venture to guess that a lot of the pollution and fuel saved by use of the car is returned to the atmosphere by the additional processing of any variety of bad things.

id love a diesel civic... Id love a honda diesel... any diesel for that matter.

Anybody notice that the spec sheet in that link says that the 1.8L makes its peak torque at 43000 rpm? What kind of oil would you use in an engine like that?
