Just picked up a couple of Bosch Premium 3410 spin on filters, one of which is the new style.

The construction does seen identical. I could even read an identical marking inside the filter. Less overspray onto the baseplate on the new version though. The new version has a sticker with the filter info. Can is still black.

The box has much more info on it. This is what it says and how it differs.

New and different pic of filter. New filter says 99% efficiency*. Old says removes 99.9% of engine oil impurities. New has no mention of FilTech material.

The old filter did not explain the 99.9% number (maybe the website did). The new filter explains it as this:

*Based on ISO 4548-12 at 20 microns on 3500

Another side compares their 3 filters:

Premium: 99% efficient*. Conventional / Semi Synthetic. 14g
High Premium (Long Life Filter): 99.5% efficient**. Semi Synthetic / Synthetic. 22g
Performance Premium (Distance Plus): 99.9% efficient*. Synthetic / Semi Syn / Conventional. 29g

**at 40 microns on L3500 and D3500

What's interesting is that the Bosch 3500 is the same as the Purolator 30001.

So Pure One 99.9% is now better than Bosch Premium 99% based on PL30001 and its Bosch equivalent 3500. Dirt holding is "up to" 13g and 14g respectively.

However Purolator Synthetic based on PSL30001 is 99% efficient at 25 microns while the Bosch Distance Plus equivalent is 99.9% efficient at 40 microns.

Could these possibly be the same filter?

And whats going on with Premium vs Pure One?

No. PSL wire backed full synthetic, BD+ synthetic cellulose blend. Two different filters. Several dissection on this board clearly indicate media differences. No idication anything has changed for either currently.

And as clearly indicated in this recent thread., BP still made by Purolator. Only difference as noted, efficiency now says 99% instead of 99.9%. Agree with ZO6's comment in linked thread "I wouldn't worry about that..." still excellent rated efficiency. Some slight/minor differences in now 'rated' published specs than P1, other than that, no biggie imo. And according to Gary Allan (rip) Filtech was just a name Bosch used for it's media, iirc name dates to when Champ made BP filters. So BP has obviously decided no need any longer for any special name for thier media.

Purolator P1 still labled P1, Bosch Prem. still labled BP but both still made by Purolator. And Purolator also makes the Mann US made spin on filters, which is labled as Mann.
