Consumer Reports some time back found diehards were the top performers in many different sizes.
On that basis I went with diehard, but only got 3.5 years out of it. I heard of similar low lifespans from diehards made in the last several years, so I think quality has gone down recently.
As has been mentioned, heat kills batteries, so low mileage such as 1000 a year is going to mean the battery sees less stress over 14 years than the average battery will in 5 years. And as has also been mentioned, cold weather when batteries are unused does not deplete them as badly as summer weather does.
