What are you doing man?

I'll never get the same warm and fuzzy feeling walking down the filter isles at auto parts stores now.

Kinda like having someone tell you the final score of a game you taped.

Calm down, OEMers. You'll be able to buy overpriced filters made who-knows-where in familiar, warm and fuzzy, OEM boxes indefinitely. The concept of "global economy" has merely made it easier for more entrepreneurial countries to get a piece of the "A-fool-and-his-money-are-soon-parted" pie. Just close your eyes, click your heels, and mumble, "OEM good, SuperTech bad!" three times whenever confronted with uncomfortable information. (really not any different than what you do here at BITOG - just a broader audience...)

Considering the number of cars that reach relatively high mileage on Frams of what ever color and Iffy lube, and then are junked for other than the engine, likely you are right. Still don't expect to see anything orange hanging down from my truck.

I should have also stated that even so, I'm still fussy about what oil filters I buy and use. Mann for the Volvos, AC-Delco on the '65 Caddy, and Wix for the other vehicles is what I have in the workshop at the moment.

So far, and to this day, Purolator filters are made right here in my hometown of Fayetteville, NC. I believe they also have a manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, UT, but most of their manufacturing and distributing comes from southeast North Carolina. Made in the USA.
