I'm thinking of buying one of these three cars in the near future and would like some opinions and your experience with them. 1. Dodge R/T Challenger. 2. Ford Mustang GT and 3. Chevy Camaro SS. I want the V8 and automatic tranny.

I plan on buying new or slightly used. I have driven all three and like various things about all three. I'm not too sure about the MDS system in the Challenger. It almost felt like the car was missing when it was going between the 4 and 8 cylinder mode. This was on two different cars that I drove. The 5.7 Hemi also seemed kind of noisy. On the mustangs I'm looking at the cars that have the newer 5.0 and the 6.2 in the Camaro.

Any way, I would like to hear the likes and dislikes of these cars from people who own them or have owned them. Thanks.

The mustangs are chewing up the #8 piston if you have a poor tune from an aftermarket tuner or use 87 octane on a good tune. Google it, well documented.

The 6 speed in the mustang has had problems as well.

As was previously mentioned all three are going to be good for you. I've been in the Camaro and Mustang and I enjoyed sitting in the Mustang more. Very comfortable and nice riding car. The Camaro, while I like it's unique layout wasn't as practical. Chevy definitely chose design over function. In regards to the Challenger, I've not been in one, however I did own a Charger (SXT) for 2 years and the layout is pretty similar. I loved it.

With this being said I think a Mustang or Challenger would be a more enjoyable daily driver. I'd give the Mustang the upper hand from an interior quality standpoint, they're slightly more refined.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know that about the mustang's engine problems. I will definitely have to look into that. I agree about the Camaro's visibility and the Challenger did have the most comfortable ride. Any issues with the 5.7 Hemi or it's five speed auto? I'm leaning toward the Challenger when it comes to the looks department. Keep them coming. Thanks.

I work at a Chevy dealer and I would buy a Challenger. The Camaro and Mustang are awesome but the Challenger just seems to have the fewest compromises.

I'm a mustanger to the core however I'm very happy with my charger. Even with the slush box its very responsive and I really like how the front wheels are as far forward as possible. It gives you a better sense of your corners.
Honestly of those 3 choices its hard to screw up. All are very capable automobiles.

Although I am not in the market for any of the 3 cars...

I have only sat in the Camaro and I don't like the seats(too narrow for my butt) an the view outward is terrable.

I have driven many Mustang's) on several occasions and I like'em alot.

But, I like the Challenger the best of the 3 just based on looks though, I have not driven it.

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like the Challenger is in the lead.

I did forget to add that I have also been thinking about the 2005-2006 GTO with the 6.0. Anyone have any input on this car? Keep them coming.

GTO if you want a sleeper. Nobody knows what those are with their generic mid-00's GM jellybean styling. Parts are slowly drying up, or at least that's what I've read. Remember the GTO is a Holden Monaro, and a lot of stuff needs to be shipped from Australia.

Stay away! Yes they're fast, but they are extremely prone to issues.

Challenger.... 5.7 Hemi... would be my choice in those three.

In reality, get the one your most comfortable in and driving.

GL!

Are you referring to the Challenger or GTO about having issues? Thanks.

I actually like both but the MDS system on the Challenger did not seem very smooth to me and was very noticable while driving it. I would hope it would be something I could get used to.

Driving my charger I definitely notice when the mds engages by the exhaust note. It gets deeper, more rumbly but the transmission between 4 to 8 is seamless and happens in a blink so I can't agree that comment.
If other brands or models are smoother than what I have experienced then it must be invisible.
Although my dads,2013 hemi ram felt like there was a slight vibration when his engages. I noticed it as soon as the "Eco" light came on so I assumed that's why however it only had 600 kms so it may have been due to not being broken in yet.

Both cars I drove had some hesitation and lag when the ECO message came on so I am assuming it was the MDS system in play but maybe not. Whatever it was, I didn't like it much. I may have to go drive one again to try to pinpoint exactly what I'm feeling.
