I am looking for a power steering fluid which will work in place of ELF HTX766. This is for a Bugatti EB110 and that ELF number came from a shop in Europe. I can't find any information about that number on the internet but I may not be looking in the right place. I would prefer to run Redline if there is a product that is compatible.

My thoughts exactly. If your customer could afford to buy that absurd car they can certainly afford to pay 50 or 100 bucks to have a pint of Elf fluid shipped from France.

Go to www.elfmoto.us.

They show Elf HTX 766 in their catalog, but the product data sheet would not come up, nor would their dealer locator.

Not sure this is really the same product, but it should be worth a shot.

They do have an email "contact us" and a "request quotation" tab that you can fill in and start a conversation with them.

This isn't going to be fun. The Total Lubricants handbook doesn't list anything other than various choices for various Citroen and other French applications. The only reference to fluids to a Bugatti I could find there was their special transmission fluid for the Veryon.

My philosophy of when in doubt, check Pentosin didn't save me, either. They have zero references to Bugatti in their guide. As suggested, contact Total. If it were me and I struck out everywhere else, the only thing I'd try would be CHF 202. But, knowing our luck, ELF HTX766 is just a French Dex/Merc.

I get a lot of people saying, "YOU'RE WORKING ON WHAT!?!?!?!". It will be a fun car when I'm done with it.

I've been to the ELF international site and could not find any info on that part number. I just want to know if it's ATF or something similar to Pentosin, etc.

Thanks for the help guys, I guess I have more research to do. Importing the ELF wouldn't do much good since I can't find this number anywhere anyway. It's only a couple ounces low so I'm not in a hurry. I'll figure it out before the car leaves.

Here's a picture of the engine with me pointing at the power steering reservoir.
