This looks interesting, and I should be able to order it locally.
Anyone know if it's ALL Stainless? and what Grade?
Life time Warranty means nothing if I have to change the darn thing every few years!

I think you might want too give them a call and see, my guess is that it is the T-304, but call too find out.

Not really to keen on Magnaflow exhaust's. They sound great but the welds are shoddy, at least on the system I bought for my 01 Impala. I had the exhaust for maybe 1 1/2 years and the driver side tailpipe was broken/loose. 3 spot weld, left, right and bottom.

Never hit any high bumps natta, just regular North Jersey driving(4 seasons).

Does anyone know if there is a L-O-N-G life muffler available?
I'm looking for OEM type sound (I don't want a Glasspack)

If you can find out from Chevrolet what they put on my '85 K20 Suburban you should get one. It's a dual exhaust and the pipes and mufflers are the ones from the factory, no holes, just a little surface oxidation. 328,000 miles later.

I was looking in my Summit magazine tonite and the Magnaflow mufflers are made out of 400 series stainless steel according too what I read. At one time Dynomax did make a Super Turbo Muffler that was stainless steel.

I am all for a straight through muffler like I have on my El Camino, and I will tell you why, at one time I had a Super Turbo muffler and it was fine but the pipe before and after the muffler went bad, probably because it was not free flowing enough and moisture was trapped in the pipes.

My exhaust on my El Camino that is ten years old looks better than the exhaust on my Marauder that came with the car that is now 5 years old, it is a 2004 model with 33,000 miles.

The exhaust on my El Camino looks better because the mufflers are so free flowing and any moisture or condensation is blown out the tailpipes.

If one buys one of these "forever" SS mufflers, are tailpipes, etc., also available that will last as long as the muffler? My problem seems to be cheap pipes that fall apart and need to be replaced before the muffler goes. And of course, the pipes are not covered by any warranty.

Check out Summit Racing or Jegs, I believe Stainless works sells some muffler pipes and tail pipes, or just give both places a call.

I have aluminized pipes including the tail pipes on my car and with the straight through muffler they are fine, its the restrictive mufflers that will hurt the tailpipes.

I can get stainless pipe bent to shape, no problem!
It seemed that the standard Walker pipe would last about as long as their muffler. The replacement muffler's were free (under warranty) but I was paying $44 each time for the Pipes.

I get free 304 Stainless pipe from the work scrap bin. The only disadvantage is that it's thicker than average exhaust pipe, so it doesn't bend well in a crush bender. No big deal, the 2.5 pipe (it's over 2.5") more than feeds my 2.2L N/A subie :)

Walker says their Quite flow 'USES' 409 stainless steel, but neglected to say if it was 'ALL' 409!!
I have sent them another email asking them to confirm this.

409 stainless steel is not going too last as long as 304 stainless steel, the mufflers on my Marauder are 409 stainless steel and they have rust marks on them, the mufflers on my El Camino are made out of 304 stainless steel and they look as good as the day I pulled them out of the box.

Your post states that you NEED A FOREVER MUFFLER.

409= Not Forever
304= Forever

Borla has a million mile warranty on there stainless steel mufflers, they are made out of 304 stainless steel.

Yes I understand that, I just want to clarify (to others) what Walker is offering. The term "now with the strength of stainless steel" is kind of meaningless (stupid).
I will lookinto Brola, but suspect they will be expensive.

You can see the prices of either the Borla Muffler or Dynomax Ultra Flow SS over at Jegs or Summit Racing, I have to caution you that the Borla's are loud, almost like running a straight pipe.

You may want to go to dynomax.com and you can listen too the mufflers, or you can go too You-Tube and type in something like exhaust system sounds or muffler sounds. When I called up Dynomax when I was putting a dual exhaust on the rep told me the Ultra Flow SS would last practically forever, not sure how long the fiberglass packing lasts, Borla's packing is made out of woven stainless steel, this Dynomax rep told me the Super Turbo would maybe last 7 years or so.

Got an email back from Walker.

[Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry for Walker Exhaust. We appreciate your interest in our products.
In regards to your request, the internals of the Quiet Flow mufflers are SS , the external pipes are aluminized however and not SS, jut the shell and the insides. A SS Quite Flow will have a double shell wrap and the outer shells aluminized as it is just the branding wrap (or where we stamp the #s on) but the inside shell is SS.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our tech line at the number]

I don't think this is for me!

It's interesting that they'd use premium materials where they're not visible. Consumers pay more attention to the outside of the muffler than with the inside.

So, what IS the service life of 409 stainless steel? My '96 Volvo has a 409 stock exhaust that is still completely sound. Yes, 409 gets ugly, but will it fail even after many years?

For the original poster's truck, I'd get the stainless Walker and 409 pipes. That would probably outlast the floorboards, doors, and the rest of the sheetmetal of the truck.

The previous Walker's I have had, tended to rust and break at the inlet and outlet pipes.
I fear their SS internals will do little to extend the service life.
My Truck could be considered 'in new' condition, it was dry stored for 22 year and had never seen rain until 18 months ago. It has had extensive rust protection, and I intend to keep things 'up to snuff' as the Truck, in this condition, is already a bit of a rarity.
The original Toyota muffler is still in good condition, but I want to secure a small stock of consumable items. Or just put an SS muffler on and be done with it!
