Nascar

I'm not an expert this, but if he's using the clutch, he can control engagement and partial slip. Whereas the other guys are in one gear or in another gear with no in between.

I was watching his footwork. I didn't think the Nextgen cars used the clutch to shift.
They don’t have to and most drivers don’t, but I think he’s so accustomed to using the clutch, that he does it anyways and it obviously is helping increase his speed on the road courses. The previous gen 6 cars didn’t need the clutch either, only to start and stop.

I was thinking something like that.

If you went to a race and listened to Gordons radio, he was one of the most foul mouthed and angry drivers.
:ROFLMAO: Thanks for that info. You have convinced me to buy a book I been thinking on. It is Gordon's amazing crew chief Ray Evernham's book.
Amazon has it : Trophies and Scars. This guy taught me over and over a lesson I keep forgetting. You can not judge a book by the cover.
I recall how often when I saw him I thought to myself "this little pretty boy is certainly NOT anything close to what a racing crew chief is!"
Did he force me to eat those words!? Of course he did. Time after time. Only about 90 something times he went to winner's circle. (y)

I put a very detailed and long post on here to j how to try to fix NASCAR …

I will abbreviate this post…

1. Cut the race schedule… Way, way too long..Go from 36 to say 28 or 27 races.

2. Go to smaller race tracks within that schedule.. NASCAR needs to face reality … it aint the 1990s early 2000s anymore… Richmond went from seating 110,000 to now like 44,000.. So go to even smaller tracks .. Like say Winchester… Hickory.. Bowman Grey..

3. Get rid of ALL the STUPID rules… Way, way. Over regulated..

If a motor can fit under a standard hood… They they can run it.. No STUPID gear rule either..

Only regulate gas used and car weights.. and some safety measures too.

4. Get the France family out of running NASCAR.. The saying by the 3rd generation a family business typically goes bad… Example - NASCAR

Get Tony Stewart to run it…

5. Cut the racing field sizes… Especially on short tracks.. 30 cars on short tracks.. 36 on bigger tracks..

6. Stop the Goodyear tire only domination..yes there maybe some issues but competition should be allowed. . And encouraged.

7. Make race weekends more than just a race event… Have and encourage lots and lots of great food vendors and have regular bbq competitions at the races… And have country music stars come to give concerts.

There’s more but I’ll stop here.

You nailed several I know have taken the spirit of it out for me. I get almost none of the enjoyment out of it like I did from the time I started following it in my teens until the current France generation took it over and pretty much destroyed it for me. The competition is not even close to what it once was. It feels and looks almost like the outcomes are being manipulated now with all the rules and changes they kept making the past several years. I have always thought that one family running it was not good once it was so well established. There should be a board , made up of past racers and some past + current owners running NASCAR.

Your list is interesting but will never happen due due to #4. The France Family owns Nascar and 11 tracks. Bruton Smith's son owns another 10. I know back in the day Bruton was not friends of the France family and there was always whispers of a split, however I have no idea how they get along now.

Anyway Nascar has no real chance simply because "stock" cars have absolutely no connection to what you can buy at the dealer on Monday - unlike back in the day. I hardly pay attention over the last 20 years. I actually tried to watch a race a month ago and the only name I knew was Joey Lagano. I think the last I watched seriously he was a rookie. How long ago was that?
