NAPA has there 5w30 synthetic for sale at $5.39 a quart.

Does anyone have any experience with this oil? I'm
curious as to how it stacks up with the rest of the
synthetics on the market.

I hope that this isn't too general of a question, but
I know nothing about this oil. I'm just looking for
some basic info on this oil is all.

Thank you...

It is made by Ashland, It was similar to Synpower Valvoline in SM but I have yet to see the VOA of napa syn SN

Every now and then they sell it off for a good price. I think the last sale was $3.38 a quart or something close to that. I have some in my stash. I think it is good for a 7500 mile OCI, perhaps a little more.

Napa and CarQuest both sell private labeled oil from Valvoline/Ashland I have used it with no problems and have no concerns about the products.

Synpower is iffy for a 7.5K OCI in most engines.
I doubt that the lighter additive pack of the NAPA branded oil would be sufficient for a 7.5K OCI.

what makes you say that? i'm sure ANY synthetic would be fine for a 7.5k OCI. most conventionals could do that no problem.

I have the same question-I went 128% of the OLM in a 5.3 truck, and the UOA came back perfect-with about 8K miles

Did you have TBN done?
What was it after 8K miles?
The reason I'm saying that Synpower does not seem suited to long drains is in the UOA forum.
Look at Synpower UOAs including TBN and then tell me it's a long drain oil.
I'm not so sure.
Is Synpower good stuff?
Well, I selected it from the stash over PU and QSUD, so I do think it's good oil.
I'll only run it 5-6K, though.
I intend to UOA the Forester on Synpower after another run or two.
Without TBN, a UOA isn't too useful.
I'll be curious as to what it looks like after 5-6K, especially TBN, and if you don't UOA with TBN after any number of miles, you really don't know how well an oil has held up in use.
Finally, not all syns are created equal.
Some really are suited to long drains, while some aren't.
It isn't all in the advertising, either.
For example, Syntec 0w30 GC is a long drain oil, while Syntec 5w30 probably isn't.
