Just got back from Autozone. The NA stuff is Green! I opened a bottle in the store and bought a qt and will send off for a VOA this week. The NA bottles do say A3 now and Improved European Formula.

Dont tell Duke the code on the bottom of the bottle! That gives me a reason to go back to AZ and buy stuff!(What a sickness!)

It took awhile for the NA Castrol to arrive in the AZ stores, but this is exactly what Castrol has been saying in my correspondence with them over the past few months. Nice to see them follow-up on it......now, if they would only make a 5W30 that is as good as their 0W30 so I could put that in my wife's '04 RX330.

Why can't you use the 0w30 in your wife's '04 RX330?

I vote for keeping it GC. Rather than calling it "German Castrol", let's just call it "the Good Castrol".

This is great news indeed. I hope it opens the distribution channel, allowing it to be available at other reatailers, not just AZ. O'Reilly's, Advance Auto, etc...

How about AGC, for American German Castrol? Or we could just keep calling it GC for old times sake and to avoid confusion.

I will purchase some down here in Florida, as I just got the last 3 bottles of the real deal from the 2 Gainesville Autozones.

Atlas,

The check is in the mail, baby!

Indeed, a few weeks ago I posted this and nobody seemed to really believe me. I guess that's coming around now.

Pat,
Sorry I never did that VOA I promised you.....I've been extremely busy!

Hey guys,

This is my original post, dated back to 27 Aug.

How about we call it AGC; American-German Castrol....or GAC; German-American Castrol?

Go ahead and put it in now. Here's the UOA that I got running GC in my 1MZ equipped Camry earlier this summer. Your 3MZ is an almost identical powerplant, and should thrive on this stuff.

OK, here's the question that no one is going to be able to answer -- AC (or whatever we will call it) is green like GC and it has the A3 rating, but what is its spine made of??? You know, I think I could almost get over an oil that performs this well being a G-III, I just want to hear a clear honest explanation from Castrol of what's in the bottles I buy from them. Is that really asking too much??? We get this in food and drugs, why not motor oil?

How 'bout we call it AC-DC-GC? That would be fitting given Castrol's tendency and willingness to switch preferences unpredictably. . .

I'm beginning to wonder whether all of you guys who claim to have seen an American version of our beloved GC are actually shills planted by Castrol to stimulate sales of authentic GC. I know they monitor this forum (how could they not), thus they must know that guys like shorty, pscholte, and I will act immediately to hoard as much of this stuff as we can. This revelation will probably inflame my OCD sufficiently to push me into the triple digit range. . .

I was happy just to see this elf elixir at first. Then,it was a mission I had to complete to make my local AZ mgr. believe there was such an oil. Now,the tables turn and he's showing me (BOFACGC)

in his store. The only thing left for me to accomplish is to buy some of this liquid gold and use it in some sort of sexual situation!

In a word: NO!

I work for the Air Force! Last time I checked, they were in the business of killing bad people.....not selling oil.
Go to your nearest autozone and find out for yourself.

Buster said he sent off a sample for VOA. That should prove whether it is/isn't the same stuff.
As I've said before, I believe it is the same formula. Castrol might be making this stuff here.....or they simply re-labeled the same imported oil from Germany. Why would it be so hard to believe?
