Had to get a new oil drain pan so went to wallyworld and here what I saw. Motor craft synblend 5w30 on clearance for 3.00 a quart. Only the 1 quart bottles. Quaker State green bottle 10w40 3.00 a bottle. Only 1 quart bottles. Castrol Edge black bottle 0w40 on clearance for 5.00. One quart bottles only. Went looking for QS enhanced durability oil and came home with Pennzoil Gold 5w30. The had the QS but it was a 1.00 more than the Pennzoil Gold. Decided to run 5w30 in the Vic. Also broke down and got a Fram Ultra xg2 filter. Never thought I would spend 9 bucks for an oil filter. What are your opinions on Pennzoil Gold. Is it capable of doing a 7500 oci.

Its Dexos approved, I think once saw its like 50% synthetic. Its good oil, but won't say its good for 7500 miles.

A lot depends on your particular vehicle and driving habits but Ford claims their Motorcraft synthetic blend is good for 10k miles in newer models. If Motorcraft can do it I see no reason that the Pennzoil Gold would not.

I use the Pennzoil Gold in my dads 2011 F150 (5.0), my moms 2005 Tahoe, and my Volt. I usually change it around 7500-8000 miles.

It's an 05 crown Victoria 4.6 modular v-8 it gets mostly highway driven about 85% highway 15% in town. Got the xg2 due to all the posts about the fl-820's not being up to snuff. And it was only 2 dollars more than a regular wix. I've been running pup 5w20 and I just don't think I need a full syn in this car. Motor is very clean inside and at 6k on this oci the oil is still a darkish amber color. Changing due to the fl-820 that's on the car and the switch to 5w30.

I just finished a 9,000 run of QSUD 5w20 and a Fram XG2 in my 03 Crown Vic. The oil is a dark amber as well. I noticed the oil stayed cleaner longer with the XG2 as opposed to the Motorcraft, maybe it's just my imagination. I was gonna run Castrol Magnatec 5w20 synthetic this time around.

You can keep the Ultra filter in there for 15k miles. Just dump the oil. Then the filter really only costs you $4.5 per oil change interval. Honda recommends this for their cars. I know you don't have a Honda but this should work for your car as well.

I used 5W-20 & 5w30 Pennzoil Gold in my 2012 F-250 & 2012 Taurus for many many miles. It's 50% Pennzoil Platinum & 50% Pennzoil conventional, very good oil. I changed it every 5,000-6,000 miles in both. I'd say it could do 7,500. I noticed everything at Walmart on clearance that you listed here. They also had Royal Purple 5 quart jugs on clearance for $30.00 & quart bottles for $7.00. They're also ditching the last of their Puro Classics for $1.50 each.

How do you know for sure it's half PP and half PYB?

There's no way it's half of two finished products lol

That's good if it is half pyb and half pp. What was weird was the QS syn blend was more than the Pennzoil Gold was. I always thought QS was entry level and Pennzoil was top shelf. Don't think I will go 2oci's on the filter. I always change the filter when I change the oil.

It's a synthetic blend, so yeah. Mix Pennzoil conventional & Pennzoil synthetic... Pennzoil says the synthetic portion comes from natural gas like Platinum so why would you believe it was much of anything different than a straight mix of the two?

I suppose they can just have half synthetic base stock & half conventional base stock with a whole different add pack but I don't know why they'd bother doing that.
