My Quest for Good Cheap Oil

Yeah you have to have a little self control. I've had friends stop renewing their membership because they always bought too much random stuff every time they were there. We just go in with a list and buy our usual groceries and get out.
Even then it’s hard to not over spend. I have great financial self control. The problem comes from the increase in top line spending as a result of only bulk purchase options. We used to have Sam’s Club membership but realized after a year or so it was a chore to not blow the monthly grocery budget. We don’t need 96 oz of Ketchup at one time. Dropped it and never looked back.

Everyone's different. For us, we save many hundreds of dollars. We get most of our groceries there. The rest we get at Trader Joe's. Rarely go to a "regular" grocery store. We cook a lot. We never have any food go bad. To each his own!

Years ago I was on a quest for the best oil I could get. That led to a lot of wasted money.

In recent years I'm on a quest for good cheap oil. From among low cost options, which are good performers, low cost, and easily locally available from Walmart, NAPA, or Oreilly because those are the oil sellers near my home.

Here's my finalists. Please tell me which you think is better and why (for 3 high mileage vehicles that don't leak oil, though one does burn oil).

NAPA High Mileage Full Syn
Quaker State High Mileage Full Syn

NAPA Full Syn
Quaker State Ultimate Protection Full Syn

I'm also open to other good oils suggestions if they're low cost at Walmart, NAPA, or Oreilly.
Do your order anything at all from Amazon or other internet retailers? Since your answer is almost assuredly yes, the best oil you can buy is sold by a BITOG site sponsor. Since it shows up at your door in 2 days or less, that’s as local as anyone who properly plans their vehicle maintenance needs.

Their good cheap oil lasts 15-20k in 3.5 EcoBoosts, which are not very easy on oil. I twice spent nearly $100 on a Ravenol DXG OCI only to find it didn’t come close to living up to the hype. PCMO does it, and at a 30% discount to Ravenol. If you happen to catch a holiday sale, it’s an even better deal. Remember, you said you wanted the best oil!

I always assumed you were a Subaru guy/gal!

HPL and Amsoil seem like great options, unless you've got a fuel diluting monster. I short trip so much (2.4 mi to work, never getting above 40 mph), that I assume I've got a lot of fuel dilution. Might be worthwhile to get UOA at the end of winter and see what I'm working with.

I've also read a lot about running HPL for long mileage runs, but not much about it for long periods of time. We put <7000 mi a year on our vehicles.
