Multi-year OCI's?

Wow some really low yearly numbers on here! I guess we all don't drive 15k like our insurance tries to tell us.. won't allow us to have 7.5k annual mileage but one vehicle. We do 6-7.5k but with the RV it'll be lower now. 100-200 miles some seriously low mileage!

When my work duties included a fleet of more than 20 vehicles I was busy with oil changes. I decided to let the plow truck alone for a 2 year interval. After all, it really only pushed snow for about 1,500 winter miles and was not used much in the summer. The 2 year OCI brought about 4,500 miles of use.

There were no problems but I had a real OMG moment that second spring when I removed the very rusty oil filter. If you extend past one year don't do it with a cheap filter. Get a higher end filter and go for it.

On a garaged vehicle that is fully warmed when driven, I have no issue with two to three year changes... Have done so with more than one vehicle...

I help neighbors wife, who doesn't drive, change oil in her Chrysler 300, once every other year using dyno 5W20. The car sees just a few hundred miles a year. I am not sure if this is optimal but I doubt changing once a year would make a huge difference.
