Motorcraft specialty orange coolant

I think they used it in the only Cougar for a very short period of time back in like 99'- '01. They didn't use it for long and appears it was mostly an oversight.
 
Yeah but might point is they sure don't use it much, not enough to say they seem to believe in it. . My view on Dexcool is it works fine in idea conditions, pressurized reservoir, compatible gaskets etc, but is definitely not an universal formula. My guess is they mostly wanted a phosphate free af for some asian engines. Ford's reference chart really only list the 3 years for the Cougar and the latest model Transit which is sort of surprising:

i do remember seeing it in new Taurus with the DOHC and some Windstars, however i think most got changed to green or yellow, and in service we change them to green or yellow.
 
Probably a good idea. I wonder who supplies motorcraft green and gold? I meant to say silicate free when they did use the dexcool btw.
