and now they were/are denying the Earth's own natural cycles.

Where did you see that in the article?

Some of those have publicly disputed the link between greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.

How many?? Percentage?? Typical media hype. I'm no fan of EM, but I just don't see the big deal here. And I'm not surprised that they would give money to people that agree with them.

Union of Concerned Scientists

I just checked their website and "Global Warming" is listed on the home page at least 8 times. Gee...I wonder what their motivation is. Looks like an evironmentalist extremist org. to me.

SOS ..those that feel fossil fuel is warming the earth (most scientists) are extremist environmental wackos. And those that are for unlimited emissions are the "voices of reason"

If you look, you can document it yourself. Wouldn't that be more likely to satisfy you than some bunch of data and links posted by someone else?

That's what I thought.

It's even worse than that. The way the current administration is muzzling the environmental science community employed by the government is astounding.

Oh come f on. Muzzling? Give me a riparian monkeyarse break.

It's global stinking warming 24-7. Every day!

They want the gravy train. Scientists in search of grant dollars find things that keep the grant dollars coming. Controls are put on the gravy train. And it's called "muzzling"?? You want to know what muzzling is? See what happens when someone challenges the so called science of global warming!

MarkC - you are my friend and you try to come off as a friend of animals and knowledgeable on the subject. Fine. But have you read all the facts on the polar bears vs. what is in the popular press? Do the research, you might be surprised that they are not dieing off.

Pablo, the fact the government is actively and very heavy handedly oppressing scientists and other employees in NOAA, EPA, and other agencies from speaking out, even controlling and censoring the release of data and reports, etc, doesn't prevent the rest of the scientific community from speaking out about the issue. Whether it's real or not isn't the point. What is the point is the active muzzling that's been going on for some time. I suggest you be the one to do some research on that subject alone.

I have and see no "very heavy handedly" examples of "oppression" "going on for some time". I can find some sour grapes, and plenty of biased people with a real hatred for people who don't worship at the global warming altar, and even more hatred for those who don't want to follow the Rev. Al Gore Church of Social Change.

I'm not saying that burning fossil fuel doesn't contribute somewhat to the recent increase in temperature, btw.

Hey, I LIKE global warming. Golf in January, shirtsleeves on Christmas day. What's not to like? One day, SE DC will be oceanfront, and I'll be where the Potomac used to be, in February, harvesting lobster.

In shirtsleeves. With an early-morning tee-time.

Come on, come on, so what's the downside? What, the breadbasket moves north a little?

[quote Most scientists? Really? Can you document that?

Do you need a scientist to tell you that the glaciers are melting, polar caps are melting, mountain snow lines are shrinking, bird paterns are changing, 10 of the warmest summers in 150 years have occurred in the last 15 years, earth oceans are warming, coral reefs are being destroyed bc of warming, grass is being cut in January in Pa., flies are appearing in Jan in Pa., flowers are bloming in Phila....on and on.

But here:

Here..even the Government says the earth is warming.

Wow, I didn't expect this many responses.

Actually, a lot of scientist disagree (according to a video that I watched in my biology class, so I do not have a weblink to that) that the use of fossil fuels are the cause of global warming. Most of them agree that the Earth is just doing what it's suppose to. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of ice ages, and before an ice age, the temperatures tend to rise. A study of glacier ice (once again, was on the video, so I do not have a weblink) has shown that temperatures were much warmer than they are now, and then this was followed by an ice age.

"Global warming" is just used for politicians to bicker over. The earth has been around for billions of years, do people really think it is only until now that the temperatures are warming?

I tend to agree the earth goes thru cycles of temp change. It even goes thru cycles of magnetic polar changes ... which the scientists say is way overdue.

However, it has only been in the last couple hundred years we have been spewing emissions of factories, vehicles, etc into the air. We can close our eyes and say it has no effect, but plain common sense won't let me do that.

MarKC - you are so biased, it's not funny. Your first citation is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. It's in Polar Bears International's best interest to skew, lie and just plain make up the data on the Polar bears. The article I read was in paper and I emailed for a soft copy to post a link. Basically this article turns that so called research (which I doubt you've actually really seen) into the rubbish that it is. The polar population is actually increasing! I can't believe you fall for the popular stuff. You seem to pride yourself in not being a crowd follower!

From your own link:

Quote:

While the ultimate or progressively evolving effects of climatic change on polar bear populations is not certain we do recognize that even minor climate changes could likely have a profound effect on polar bears.

Now THAT sounds like science. What a JOKE!!!!!
