Sounds like a good start!

BTW I like your signature, but still only 98 hp or is that at the rear wheels?

It's 0 hp at the rear wheels on a Scirocco.

Good one!
What was I thinking.

It's 98 (well 97.7) at the front wheels after timing and jetting on Ric Woods Motorsport rolling road. It was quoted as 70HP from the factory, I bolted on 12hp (cam, manifolds, cards, dizzy, lwfw etc) and Ric 'optimised' another 16 hp out of what I screwed together..
Even if it is an old and (relatively) slow car, I just CAN'T bring myself to drive something if I don't feel like I've 'imprroved' it in some way

ATF+4 is loaded with detergents and is an excellent cleaner. Ever notice how clean your hands are after you've been working in trans oil?

i just did the Hughes belly pan on my sons 3.9 as well. Much better shape than the swamp thing though. Tough little engine.

Yes it does. A friend had a Ford V8 toasted when his oil screen was clogged with sludged,(long OCIs with dino) lost oil pressure, and destroyed the bearings.

My first vehicle was a hand me down Ford pickup with a 460.
10k oil changes with Kendall dino and no sludge problems.
Sorry about your friend but not every oil was Big Daddy endorsed :-)
