Maybe it's a baby dinosaur fossil from when that crude was first pumped into that engine?

That 3.9L V6 engine (I have one) is a known sludger because of intake manifold gasket seal issues. I ran only QSUD synthetic and just used the manufacturer's OCI, and when I had my heads done at 115K miles (non-lube issue) I took a look, my galley was clean as can be.

He said it's been running 10w-30 lately, I bet it's conventional, nothing wrong with that but it's unlikely to get a leg up on the sludging already there.

Changing oil on a regular basis does wonders for keeping the engine clean. I wouldn't buy a vehicle sludged up engine.

I laughed when he started to use ATF+4 as an oil additive. He did the right thing by unloading it to someone who would pull and rebuild the engine.

Sounds like a good start!

BTW I like your signature, but still only 98 hp or is that at the rear wheels?

It's 0 hp at the rear wheels on a Scirocco.

Think about all the ones that look like that that nobody even knows about just driving around still. Its amazing what some engine designs can still operate through.

Good one!
What was I thinking.

The ones with leaking intake bellypan gaskets have more ventilation than almost any Engine....
- the leak isnt responsible for sludging.

I replaced the leaker on my 01 360 with a billet belly pan from Hughes almost 10 years back...no leaks even with a blower.
