It's on the Internet, so it must be true.

It's amazing the number of quack remedies that are out there. The days of snake oil are still alive and well, as is human nature. Sadly, as the site you linked to points out, there are a lot of people willing to believe rubbish.

Remember Zerret water from the 1950's?. You had to hold the container in both hands, making sure all your fingers were in contact with it and that your legs were uncrossed. This was done three times a day for 15 minutes and would help arthritis, rheumatism, diarrhea, constipation, excess weight and abnormal thinness, as well as a variety of other conditions. There were people that swore that it worked, but needless to say it didn't.

Human nature really hasn't changed much in the last 60 years.

I am glad that people are rediscovering molasses.
My parents used to buy molasses by the keg
and we would go through one of them in a few months.
I still use it every day as a topping on cereals and even in my tea.
Chock full of vitamins and minerals-great stuff.

Good for horses, good for humans too. I too use it for breakfast, as a sweetener in porridge. In a drink with milk it's nice too. I used to make a mean gingerbread, it had a cup of molasses and was black and sticky.

Mollasses is the proof of why white sugar is inherently bad.

Take everything remotely healthy out of sugar...maes the "waste" cheap and healthy, and tasty.

I use it in the shed, 1:10 with water to strip rust off steel.

Wow! Another cool use for it! But seriously no one with any real nutritional background will dispute it's healthy benefits.

Just like all our foods... leave them alone and they are generally great, but the moment we start to "improve" them, watch out!

True..also it has lots of Potassium. I would think a tablespoon or two per day is a good thing. Note: I don't take it maybe I'll look into it. I would only look at the blackstrap stuff though.

Hopefully there isn't an upswing in fake molasses on the shelves like there has been with honey.

Quote:
According to the tests, which were run by "one of the nation's premier melissopalynologists," 100% of the honey found in individually wrapped portions sold by Smuckers, McDonalds and KFC, and the honey found in large chain-pharmacies contained no pollen. 76% of the honey bought at grocery stores had no pollen, and 77% of the honey found in big-box stores had no pollen. "Farmers markets, co-ops and 'natural' stores like PCC and Trader Joe's" all carried honey with full amounts of pollen.

I buy my honey in 30-60lbs buckets from a local farmer. Its all there and all real no worries for me there.

I may have to try eating some molasses...haven't had some since I was a kid..used to put it on toast...hmmmm toast...
