I would just buy another brand next time. That filter is not right. What worries me is I have one of those on one of my cars. It's expensive so I don't want to take it off and waste it if it's OK but now I have to worry if it is or not.
I did get it as part of a deal with the Pennzoil ultra but still.

Couldn't be farther from the truth.

Here's what's inside a Fram "orange can":

.... and this is what you'll find inside a Fram Ultra:

.... now I don't know about you, but to my eyes, these two filters look VERY different inside.

The orange can may look cheap, but it works for what it's designed for - that is up to 5K change intervals. In the photo above, the number of pleats and pleat spacing actually looks pretty good, better than usual, and better than a lot of other filters.

Even the orange can has a better efficiency than a lot of filters on the market, and the media doesn't fail like you know who's lately. I'd rather use a Fram orange can than a filter that is know to fail.

The Fram Ultra is a tough and very good filter for the money. Plus not having to mess with the filter at every oil change is very nice

That's why I started buying them when they first hit the shelves. Happy days indeed

I will try an ultra but that orange can looks like its made outa all paper inside and little of it. No thanks to that.
I cut open a Purolator today and posted and it looks 10 times better used

Bad thing with the Purolator-they have a tendency to tear at the ends by where the seam crimp is-unless you have a major moisture problem (coolant leak, extreme short trips in winter), the Fram Extra Guard is fine for your recommended interval.
