Hi,

I am a new member and I have a question. My wife and I drive 350 miles a week each, mine is mostly non-stop highway and my wife has some non-stop and stop and go highway driving. We use Mobil 1 AFE 0W-30. Can we run our cars 6,000 or more miles between oil changes with our driving conditions? We live in Wadsworth, OH our temperatures can be 90+ in the summer and -10 in the winter. Looking forward to your response.

Wadsworth! What kind of car is it? What kind of oil filter? Generally 6,000-7500 is ok.

Do you have two cars that you are using the same oil in?

Not knowing anything else, I'd say yes. M1 0w30 is good oil, no reason why a synthetic wouldn't last that long in a normal vehicle. However, more information is really needed for any one to say with any degree of certainty.

Weekly distances of 350 miles (50 miles a day for 7 days or 70 miles a day with 5 workdays) is very easy on oil, M1 AFE 0W30/0W20 can easily lasted 7-8k miles or longer.

If you are driving some sort of oil abuser 6K will do fine. All others 10K no problem. I've been doing 10K OCIs for 32 years with M1 oils.

0w-30 is mostly for winter cold and short trip driving. No benefit at all on the highway.

Most vehicles run fine on dino 5w or 10w30.

I guess taken as a stand alone out of context post, it could have read, "Wadsworth!!! What kind of car is THAT?".

"We use Mobil 1 AFE 0W-30." "Can we run our cars"

"Do you have two cars that you are using the same oil in?"

I've been running Mobil 1 0w30 continuously for the past four years; OEM approves this oil for my vehicle.

That said, I don't exceed OEM OCI specification for my vehicle with it.

I'll reiterate other poster's requests as well:
"What vehicles are you running this in?"

Sorry I took so long to answer all of your questions, I was at work. My wife has a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3, stick shift, with a Zetec engine. She drives the highway with a lot of stop and go traffic (due to rush hour)and then up to regular highway speed, if that makes a difference. I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota, stick shift, with a Magnum engine, 4 X 2. I drive all highway and early morning so no stop and go for me. I just put Royal Purple in our transmissions and I have it in my differential. Thank you for the warm welcome and beast3300 where in OH are you?

Hahahahaha, no you guys are good. I should stop posting the second I walk in the house from 11 hrs of work. My brain spits out some garbled stuff out. Wadsworth is about 15 mins from me so I was impressed somebody that close is on BITOG.

0w30 is fine for both. Its not just a "winter" oil, but it may be a little better in the winter than say a 5w. You can run it year round.
