It does sound like half annoying tick like the others, but half rod knock too. And moving around, maybe a slight exhaust leak somewhere. I agree that would drive me crazy paying so much for a car.
If it were me I'd throw something thick in there to see if it goes away. Wont hurt anything.
I appreciate the thoughts. But I wouldn't feel comfortable running thicker oil. And since the noise goes away when the engine is hotter (and oil thinner) I don't think it would give the results you are thinking about.

Understand. I haven't come out and said this because its controversial..Here goes..
My experiences with M1 have been - if you got a tick M1 amplifies it. Another brand same viscosity can make it go away. The t6 I'm running in the Corolla silenced about 20 simultaneous ticks just like yours instantly. So my first response was change brands. The second was change weight, maybe same brand. Something that stays thicker warm. Neither will hurt. Just to verify its nothing major. Then dump it if your worried. But I understand why you don't want to, expensive machine. Keep us updated!
