good evein fellas.my local toyota stealership that i bought my 2010 tundra from has mobil 5w-20 in bulk.i am wondering exactly what 5w-20 it is?is it mobil clean 5000 or what other oil does mobil make that is in 5w-20 bulk?i got like 5 "free" oil changes with the purchase of the new truck.

I'm gonna venture a guess that it is mobil clean (not the 5k formula.) Someone will else will chime in.

That is what it is.

Drive clean 5w-20. One of Mobil's best oils. (And I'm NOT a fan of Mobil)

Use it with no worries!

Bill

so its a good oil?i am only using it becaus eof the "free" 5 oil changes.after 25,000 miles i intend to use pp 5w-20 in the tundra.
thanks for all responses and keep 'em coming,

I haven't used it personally. My thoughts are, if the dealer has confidence to use it then it will be good. It will cover the warranty from Toyota and if changed as required will keep your engine lasting a long time.

Following the recommended OCI of 5k or 6 months whichever comes first for your Toyota?

Your engine will NOT know ANY difference between PP 5w-20 and the Mobil drive clean 5w-20.

Not to be confrontational and I respect other people’s opinions but I see this type of statement at least once a day on BITOG and I do not believe this is accurate. No question that today’s dinos are excellent but the OP will experience a difference between using M1 VS Mobil Clean 5000 (just using M1 as an example – you could replace M1 with any top tier syn for the purpose of this post). I use neither M1 or Mobil Clean 5000. M1 will provide faster flow cold, hot, or indifferent over Mobil Clean 5000. M1 will provide for a cleaner engine over time even if 5K OCIs are adhered to. M1 will run cooler than Mobil Clean 5000. Yes, coolant temp will be consistent but the oil temp will be less. The OP’s engine will turn more freely even if just slightly and could contribute to a modest, very modest increase if MPGs. On a steaming hot day running 75 to 80 on the Interstate the M1 will be less likely than Mobil Clean 500 to break /shear down and again, more efficiently draw heat away from the cylinder walls.

IMHO the benefits of using M1 over Mobil Clean 5000 outweigh the cost savings especially in a new truck. If you have an oil burner / leaker, a beater, or a limited term lease then use a dino and do not think twice. If you have a nice vehicle and plan to drive it well beyond the warranty period then do not skimp on your oil and filter.

+1 You are right on.

Both of you have no clue.

Sorry but this [censored] that only if you run vehicles with syn if you care about them is getting REAL old and has no FACTS.

PLENTY (oh sorry.. MOST) vehicles on the road (like over 80%) use normal oils and filter and make many miles (like WELL over 100k) with not a SINGLE problem.

If you want to drink the koolaid and spew it fine.

But DON'T tell me that since I don't drink the syn B S that my vehicle is not "NICE" or I don't care for it.

I've had more vehicles make 200k plus and they are STILL on the road operating fine. Pass smog and operating like any other well maintained vehicle.

All the vehicles with all that wear since they are running conventional is just a joke.

I guess facts don't matter here any more. All the marketing [censored] and wifes tales have won.

I'm done. You guys keep spewing. Esp you Tig. Have a great day.

Not trying to upset you but there are some advantages to synthetic oil. With that said you are very right in saying that many engines do go well over 200,000+ miles on convential oil. No one has ever said differant. It has more to do with extended OCIS than anything. This is just a matter of my opinion, and not trying to argue or put your opinion down. We do have a certain amount of freedom of speach here.

Are people really arguing over...OIL?!? I agree with Bill, all of the syn tales are really over blown on this site. I have 219k, all on dino and my engine is running great! The dino held up in the hot OK summers and the icy winters...

Is 200,000 miles something to brag about? Most cars these days can be abused and still make 200,000 miles

Things usually heat up when someone is asking for a recommendation and then two opposing opinions come in and then start duking it out with each other.

Dino is so hydro-treated these days, you can barely call them Dino anyways. Even PYB is almost a Group III being called a Group II+

Yes the dinos have improved but cannot hold up for the extended drains many people like to do. That is the advantage of synthetics oils and it saves a resource which has bankrupted this country. The less oil we buy fom other countries the sooner our economy will recover. People need to stop doing 3,000 mile oil changes PERIOD. Any oil, synthetic or dino can go 5,000 miles.

Agreed. Even so called sludgers could handle 5k OCIs on a good dino with no problem

Whitearrow ....

I enjoy getting down to Phly MS a couple times a year to play Dancing Rabbit. Great courses !

In our climate the Mobil Clean will work great. No real advantage in going to the Syn unless it makes you feel good.

3Putter.

sorry guys i didn't mean to start a war here.but, thanks for the info anyways.yeah 3putter i have been out to the rabbit a time or two and it is really nice especially for my little home town.i have guven the rabbit way too much money though lol.i had my wedding reception out there.i emailed the stealership and the internet guy told me that it wasn't even mobil clean and that it was just mobil bulk oil.i did get him to upgrade my next 4 oil changes to mobil 1 or toyota synthetic my choice.what do y'all think of those 2?
