So how does this compare to other motor oils? WOW! it shows almost now wear. But the pictures don't provide an side by side comparison.

Of course M1 EP will be superior when put up against a conventional run for 15,000mi. Thats like a pit bull going up against a chihuahua

Big Deal...they ran their best $7/qt oil against cheapo dino $1.50/qt oil. Let's see them repeat that test with something equivalently priced like Amsoil ASL.

So let me get this straight.....

They test their Oil that was said to go 15K Mile OCI against a competitors product equivalent to their oil that THEY SAY will go only 5K Mile OCI.

So what did they prove their OCI recommendations should be followed?

DUH!

If Mobil shows evidence that their product works like it's advertised they're scoundrels. If they don't offer evidence that their product works like it's advertised they're scoundrels.Mobil bashing. BITOG's version of The Winter X Games.

Scoundrels, maybe. Capitalists/marketers, absolutely; but by the looks of the tests conducted, scientists they are not.

Yes, SWRI did the tear downs I believe.

The testing simply shows that if you want to spend more money, you won't have to change your oil more often.

It's not about comparing M1 to other Synthetics, but rather conventional oil. It's that simple.

Did not say that at all, just they are saying how much better it protects your engine yet operate one of them beyond the operational range of its design.

Now if they used Mobil1 EP vs. say Pennzoil Platinum then you'd have a valid comparison. But to showcase how great it is VS DINO???

Heck even Mobil1 Vs. Mobil1 EP would have been great.

They just said there ONE TOUGH MOTOR OIL is #@$%!!!!! Cause it can't go 15K miles. HHHHMMMMMMMMMmmmmm...

Amsoil with a bypass Filter let them drive it for 25K do a UOA and change per UOA and make that Mobil1 go the distance. See what happens then.

Don't forget M1 historically outperforms most synthetics oils in terms of engine cleaning ability and deposit formation. As a proof, pictures can be found almost in any online forum. This forum slowly but surely going downhill along with all M1 haters and biased Amsoil folks...

When I first got here there was a lot of Mobil1 fans. Some stuff has happened and many are really looking at whether or not it is justified at this time. Some of the UOA lately don't seem as nice as used to be and the price is higher than ever. Amsoil has always had a love hate thing with how it is marketed. Never heard o it as a bad oil??? Not even sure of anyone say current Mobil1 is bad. Just not what they thought it was.

As far a clean engines, I have seen pics of a Havoline Conventional at 300,000 miles that looked great. Light gold color no hint of sludge or what not. Never seen a sludged up Synthetic engine, but other than Fantastic looking Mobil1 and Amsoil engines, I have never seen pics of Synthetic run engines torn down.

Mobil1 hater, no just no longer drink the cool-aid.

Mobil 1 at one time made the best motor oil in the world. No doubt. Now they are really good at marketing. The oil is average at best. Overpriced for sure. They have embraced a posture of hidden speak (used by lawyers/cons/me when I get pulled over for speeding) and smoke and mirrors to hide/justify their inferior product. Money talks and quality walks.

does any one realy have any proof that mobil 1 does not do a good job? there is a lot of talk about mobil 1 not being good but i have heard the same thing about amsoil and others.where is the proof that it is not good or that some other brand is better ?

Former M1 user here. I feel greed has taken its toll at ExxonMobil. Having boosted its net income from $21B in 2004 to $36B in 2006 despite skyrocket raising of crude oil price, Exxon Mobil definitely is motivated to do whatever it can to guarantee financial returns to Wall Street and shareholders. This includes boosting profit margin by using cheaper raw material and sacrificing the brand equity it has taken years to built.
Someone else may still want to buy overpriced M1, not me.
Go find another sucker to believe this marketing video.
