That's a good looking filter. I like the sturdy end-caps. I use the longer than stock M1-209 on my V8 4Runner. I change the oil every 10K miles and I don't mind paying a couple of bucks extra at Pep Boys for the M1 filter.

In your first picture why does the base look bent off center?

I have no idea! I thought it was weird too when I was looking at the filter but maybe it's part of the design. I was hoping someone from here would know.

Something looks bent on that end.

Filters in Canada are expensive regardless and I only buy when they are on sale, I replaced this with a Fram Ultra. Will change and cut open in a year !

Overall, oil filters are a minor expense. I use the M1-209 on my V8 4Runner because I trust is to do its job. On my 84 Civic I use a NAPA Gold because there is no M1 for that application. I used to use Purolator filters but had problems, twice. The first problem was a leak at the base of the filter and the second was rust and contaminants up inspection at the parts store. I switched to M1 and NAPA. A couple of bucks more is okay for what I consider better filters.
