Mobil 1 compared to other oils

I have done a lot of research on the board and have a couple questions about Mobil 1. I know that SOPUS products are excellent and I have always used it in my cars for the exception of GC one time. How would the use of M1 improve my car(if it would, I am not expecting an thing). Would it be performance, MPG, ect... I noticed in the UOA that there seems to be a higher amounts of iron in M1 when compared to some other oils like PYB ect... I guess I have a bias to Mobil products but want to use them at some point. Is the M1 extended performance a better product compared to regular M1 or AFE products. I just want some insight.
Thanks

First off, what kind of car are you going to put this in. I believe the Extended Performance oils are better than the regular Mobil 1 but not sure about the AFE oils. I used the Mobil 1 0W-20 this winter in my wife's Honda and I was very pleased with its performance. Will you gain anything from going to a SOPUS synthetic to Mobil 1, probably not.

My question directly relates to my new Toyota Camry which calls for 0w20 and there are only a few oils that are relatively easy to find and mobil seems to be the most available in my area. My dealership wants almost 9.50 a quart for toyota 0w20. I didn't know what a 0w20 does compared to a 5w20 dino. Any thoughts??? I get a few oil changes on toyota but wasn't sure what to use.

I think Mobil 1 EP is better than Mobil 1. I started to use it in my Nissan Murano recently and noticed it runs more smooth than Mobil 1. Lot of times you can get it at AAP or Pep Boys for $30(5 qt, plus a Mobil EP filter).

You can taste the bias

M1 oils are probally in the top five oils in the world. The 0-20 will serve you very well with clean and long lived engines, with a long OCI.

Mobil 1 is by no means a bad oil. But in the vanilla Mobil 1 (especially the 5w30) I believe there are better options. Such as Synpower, PP, Ultra, Edge...

Regular M1 will serve your engine for hundreds of thousands of miles if you so chose to keep it that long. M1 5-30 is a great oil used by some of the most high tech engine builders in the world. As for gaining something, PP is also a great oil and will serve your engine needs for many miles.

Mobil pays BIG dollars too get those OEM recommendations. Their are much better choices for synthetics then Mobil 1.

That's just how it works. Exxon pays GM big bucks to put it's oil in the crankcase of it's high performance vehicles, and put the Mobil 1 label on the filler cap.

I would not hesitate to use Mobil 1 0w-20 in my car, and I have done so with great results. However Mobil 1 is not the reason engines go for hundreds of thousands of miles, and stay clean, a conventional at a much lower cost will achieve the exact same thing. If your owners manual specs a 0w-20, as far as I know Mobil 1 is the only choice at your local off the shelf chain stores like walmart , autozone etc etc. I think I recall seeing the AFE , EP, and I can't remember on regular Mobik 1.

Exxon also pays big bucks to have their oil tested and licensed for spec's like Honda's HTO-06. Mobil sets the standard as far as certifications and approvals held.

M-1 was M-1... when Grp IV's were Grp IV's...

As far as I am concerned...you have GRP V. GRP IV and GRP III. then conventionals.

Best...middle...fine...good

It's just knowing what intervals to change and finding a good filter to match. Grades and viscosity as well.

The oil always gets all the credit or blame..ever notice that?

Too many variables come into play in the who's best game!
