Gentlemen, I am 7500 miles into my current OCI on my below mentioned F-150. Having been a very long time Motorcraft oil user, my goal is to double my oil change interval from 5,000 miles to 10,000 miles. It is giving me fits. I'm getting awfully itchy. Can you fellas offer a little moral support?
 
Considering MC is made by Purolator, and they also make the superior P1, D+, and Synthetic filters-that's the way I go, along with a UOA to make sure your oil can handle it.
 
As stated above oil is cheap.Change it, test it, and you'll know how long you can stretch it.

I wouldn't push a conventional Motorcraft filter quite that far, nor a P1. For anything over about 7 k miles, I'd go for a wire-backed synthetic media filter- Purolator Synthetic, Fram Ultra, Royal Purple, etc.

As for the oil itself, do a UOA right now and see how its doing.
 
Guys he's talking about Motorcraft OIL, not filters.

Here's some moral support for you...Mobil warranties M1 for 10k, in writing, even if it exceeds the manufacturers recommended OCI.

No other oil company has taken that stand that I'm aware of. Check out thier website, it's all on there.

For further peace you can do a sample now (don't change) or at 10k when you change just to make sure you're all right.
 
I agree with KCJeep's recommendation of taking an oil sample now.

What are your driving habits; how many miles per year?

Doing an oil analysis at 5K, then 7.5K is prudent for the health of the engine and your emotional psyche.
 
Fear not; Motorcraft 5W-20 (I assume this is what you are using) is either a full synthetic or a blend. In either case, it will easily last 10K (provided, of course, that you do not have anything going on with your engine). I ran 10K with Mobil Super 5000 (all conventional) and it held up as well at 10K as Pennzoil Ultra did in some of my 7K runs. The FL-820s is also good for 10K (not sure if this is your filter) so no worries there either. Ford Modulars are not excessively hard on oil (I am assuming here as well that you have a 4.6L or a 5.4L in your F-150).

Here is my full set of UOAs and here are a few photos of the filter after I cut it open at 10,020 miles. Relax; you are covered!

Yes they can. I have used MC filters for some time now with narry a glitch.

Yes they can. I have used MC filters for some time now with narry a glitch.

Mine have never seen over 6K miles. You think I was pushing the envelope just a tad?

You need to walk around the vehicle before you drive off in order to avoid pushing the envelope that might be in front of the truck. My wife didn't bother and ended up proving that the truck is tougher than her mop bucket.

Surprisingly enough, the bucket just looks mangled and still works...

It was having a bad day and couldn't handle it any more...

OP- I wouldn't worry about the mileage, unless it is taking years to put on...
